Thanks Dr Ralph,
That is assuring.
I should also note that I have over the years seen many reports of people not being successful when applying for a card with Macquarie but never having problems with other banks. So it's likely not just unique to you.

I've never had any problems at all with Macquaire.

I'm waiting just a little - I have 10 cards at the moment :)

I've just been rejected for this card. Should have learned my lesson when they rejected me for a Hilton card last year. The only banks that have ever rejected me are Macquarie and HSBC. Odd, as they approved my partner even though she shares most of the same application details as me except has a smaller income. Like HSBC, Macquarie refused to give me any reason why my application was rejected.

I did just get approved by Bendigo though :)

I have more cards than I've ever had simultaneously before and I still have less than half of that. Will probably cancel a few and see what my score is like before considering applying for the Macquarie one.

Macquarie is the only institution to have rejected me. And twice. Both times were craven attempts for the Hilton card and I stupidly re-applied immediately after the first rejection - talk about vanity.

I'll have a third crack at some point but reports of others' rejections doesn't fill me with confidence. I wonder why they seem to be so much tougher than the others. Do they use a metric that other banks don't? Or do they just have a lower risk threshold?

Decided to get back on for another go at this card. Approval took 2 days. Hope the card arrives soon. Keen to churn and burn.
Card only arrived today. Ten days after approval as twelve days after application.

$99 annual fee charged on day one of opening account!

Applied 12/6, approved 14/6 and received today 19/6. Nice and quick specially seeing i'm in Perth
Wow. Special treatment for you :)

I just used the card to buy an e-wish card and one other purchase at a cafe. Got a call from Macquarie questioning the transactions almost immediately. I gave them a blast. Told them it was ridiculous to call me every time I used the card! Looks like I've got a good reason to now be cancelling the ca

Thinking I might keep this one for a bit and cancel my ANZ seeing as it is 1 point to $1 spent. Still got St. George floating around but it's only .5 point to $1 spent (waiting for bonus points ). Once I receive these 2 i'll have enough for my RTW Business ticket for my trip next year!

Not a great earn rate for Macquarie. 1 point per dollar, but only for the first $1000 each statement period:

'1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases on up to $1,000 spend per statement period, then 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the remainder of that statement period'

StGeorge Amplify is .75 QFF points plus a birthday bonus if eligible:

'1.5 Amplify Points or 0.75 Qantas points for every dollar spent on eligible purchases.'

Just checked where I signed up and it has "You will earn 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases on up to $4,000 spend per statement period, then 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the remainder of that statement period with no points cap"

I think you are referring to a different card. I think you are referring to the BLACK card. The earn rate depends on which card you signed up for. Noting the thread title, this thread was specifically for the 'Platinum' card and the information I provided in #133 relates to that card specifically.

'1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on eligible purchases on up to $1,000 spend per statement period, then 0.5 Qantas Points per $1 spent on eligible purchases for the remainder of that statement period 8

Additional 1 Qantas Point per $1 spent on selected Qantas products and services 12'

Well hit my $3000 spend on the black yesterday (including the annual fee) and the qantas points have already been put in my account. Talk about quick!

Was this the end of your first cycle?
