Macquarie Bank takes over from HSBC

Did anyone try and use the 10% off voucher that you got when activating when buying wish gift card in store? T&C say gift cards not included, but wondering if it's enforced?

I'm on 2000 as well - payment due tomorrow and I just understood what everyone has been talking about here on this thread - the BPay number for the old card is gone on the statement and the new card number has been inserted. Thats a leap of faith for you :) They assume I'll accept the new card and pay last months statement against it :)

Now the buggers are going to force me to call them as I'm still of a mind to not accept this new card. Points earn worse (limited to 2500$ a month) and annual fee significantly higher, PITA web site thats actually worse than the previous one which I didn't think would be possible. I'll probably stay if they return my annual fee and offer me 5000 points, use it for paying one bill a month then back in the top draw.

Wonder how much pain this switcheroo has caused them and their customers? I'm guessing a lot of failed BPay transactions followed by interest and non-payment charges, followed by angry customer call in then card cancellation during the same call.

You get one point per dollar up to $2,500 then half a point per dollar for the rest.

Woopee do !!!!!

Wonder if they really care.

I have put $ 4 K through the QFFWOW CC to pay some tax then I will not used it again except for first $ 2,500 each month and tax, I can't be bothered baring my soul to QCU, stupid I know BUT !!!!.

I Have reactivated the Jetstar card and put just on $ 10 K through it that would have gone to WOW and I am only small fry. They will lose a lot of turnover I think. But....do they care...NO..the bean-counters will have told them we cost them money because we pay our bills in time every month so give us the flick.

Once I get to 100K on the JETSTAR card out comes my Fee free for Life Citibank Card so WOW goes from $ 300,000 a year to approx. $30,000.

I won't be Robinson Crusoe.

I went QCU and Mrscove went HSBC. QCU was a bit hard as we are in business and HSBC Platinum was easier as we had accounts with them.

I agree with your sentiments - I have applied for a Citibank Qantas Card to cover outlays in excess of $2500 per month.

Citi Signature fee free for life is working rather well for me. No ATO though sadly, but there's another thread for that.

I think the QCU is easiest for employed people but a nightmare for business owners and self employed. Too much paperwork for me.

Has anyone here got any experience of changing credit cards if on the pension, retired etc?

I just retired in February, and with the job market the way it is, I doubt I will be able to pick up any part time work to supplement my pension.

I don't get the full amount of pension due to the asset test, so that is another problem. I have a small amount of super, which I am yet to turn into an income stream. Planning to do that shortly. However, it is not going to give me a lot of money.

At the end of the day, I am looking at a bit less than $30,000 a year, and I suspect no bank or financial institution will bother with me, even though I pay my cards off in full every month, and have an excellent credit record.

Currently using an ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum Visa/Amex, though I do not use the Visa card as it is only .5 of a point. Got the Woolies Mastercard to use instead of the Visa and maintain the 1 point per dollar. The new points cap of 2500 per month won't really affect me, as I only use the card where Amex is not accepted, ie council rates, doctor, water rates, Medibank, etc.

Maybe I should just wear the pain of Macquarie and stay with Woolies!

Have just hit 5 figures of points on my QCUCC and so far so good. The first million points will be the hardest is what I am thinking.
Have stopped using the WOWCC ever since I validated the Qantas Credit Union credit card.Have not cancelled it as the year has not finished.
I rang to cancel the card, renewal due next month. Was asked why so I mentioned capped points and increased fee. I was told of the new benefits of the new card, but I replied they were not of use to me. After being put on hold for a minute, I was offered to have the fee waived, so looks like I will be having the card for another year, making sure to stay below $2,500 per month...

Hmmm think I may ring today

It seems as if getting 1:1 is a not bad deal for you with need to spend $2500 or so a month on the woollies card. Then perhaps try for a waiver of the fee. And then later on see what's available. For Velocity, you can get a free card and one for one with the AMEX Red card.

I went with QCU and the paper work was a bit tricky as I have retired, got there in the end though.

I rang today and said that i wanted to cancel my card. I was put through to another extension, she confirmed my details and said it was a shame as I had been with them since 2011.
I raised concerns about the annual fee and she agreed to waiver it.
So new card is activated, so hopefully 2000 points also coming my way.

The QCU card is working well for me.

It's not quite for me yet. At the beginning I was politely reminded about how the QCU card wasn't for business expenses - they had my Woolworths card statements of 6 to 10 pages each month. I want a credit increase in two months so I've had to put the large charges (BAS, &c) on another card for the time being.

One thing that is rather nice about the QCU card is the ability to download a QIF file to keep MYOB accurate between statements. Woolworths was useless in that regard - CSV download only.
