28th of April - end of NSW school holidays and Easter. My rule for flying is to avoid school holiday travel times, not only for cost reasons, but for reliability.

No wonder you got bumped for 3 days.

BTW not excusing Qantas and Jetstar, but explaining one aspect of the issue.

Please let us know what Qantas does inc any weasel words.

Good luck...

Loyalty a one way affair: Hello again
Time for an update.

Loyalty can bring it own surprising rewards - Qantas redeems itself

Received a call from Qantas Customer Care who made the offer to refund my missed last leg of the flight (actually calculating it as a flexible one way ticket to increase the refund) which I accepted. Thinking good they have made a somewhat positive gesture to an incident which they believed was a Jetstar issue and I have at least recovered a good portion of my out of pocket. Would wait on the response from Jetstar.

Believing the mater was over as far as Qantas was concerned I received another call that the above gesture was cancelled and that Qantas would instead fully reimburse my account for the full cost of Singapore Airlines ticket. Plus also by way of further apology, the Australia Singapore segment of my next flight would be upgraded to business.

They went on to state that they were investigating the incident and subsequent treatment, so hopefully this may be of help to others in the future or even to myself as i fly these legs quite often.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

My initial response is "good result"......but then I think it should not have been allowed to happen in the first place....but then I think at least Qantas have acknowledged the error and compensated you. Danmi it, I have no idea how I feel about this!!!

By the way Paulw, does this gesture make you reassess your questioned loyalty?

A somewhat decent result but never should have happened in the first place.

QF treats JQ as a completely seperate entity when it suits them but come financial results time JQ is the shining QF jewel making them lots of cash.

If you spill a mans beer, you buy both him and his mate a new one.

If you borrow your friend's car, you fill it up with fuel and buy them lunch.

Call me old fashioned, but paying for your SQ flight, giving you full QF points/SC for the 'missed' sector, and an apology doesn't square things up.
An upgrade on your next flight is bogus because you need to spend more money with QF in order to utilize a benefit.

Where is the compensation component?

How was your Singapore Airlines flight?

I had similar thing happen with virgin and a SQ flight Virgin cancelled the flight to Brisbane which automatically canceled the SQ flight as it was on the same ticket. They'd booked me on the next day which meant I'd miss a cruise from Hong Kong. No one would help me
I was able to get to brisbane by other means but then had plead with SQ to get me on their flight.

I'd be asking them if the AU to SIN upgrade to Business Class a guaranteed positive space gig from the get go or only on a space available basis on the day of travel.

If it's the latter you may as well resign yourself to the fact you'll be sitting in whY as there's bound to be plenty of people with points upgrades requests in who won't even get their upgrade confirmed.

Space available upgrades only get actioned at flight close the same time airport upgrade requests are actioned. There's usually bugger all J seats left after points upgrades have processed the day prior and those who have opted in for an airport upgrade would get a higher priority over a 'sorry' upgrade.
