Lounges in BKK

Was in BKK flying home on Deathstar HalfClass Sunday night (JQ30). As soon as the First class lounge opened at 8pm I asked if I could enter and without even asking for BP or QF card I was just waived in, as were a number of other guests later that night.

Although there's little difference between J and F lounges (F has nicer booze, more exclusive feel and apron view), there's no harm in trying your luck. After all, if they're not even going to bother checking your credentials, why not!?

HAving spent 8 hours at Bkk airport i'll make these commenst about the lounges

Cathay have 2 both of which are about the same.
Food not up to QP standard and in no way matches Hong Kong

QP is biggest but gets very crowded around departure times. It was fun watching people prowling teh food line waiting for stuff to be brought out and then seeing it hoovered up by teh hordes
Early in the day i was the only one there which was nice and quiet
Qantas F lounge is small but bigget than cathay and has nicer food and drink

It takes about 2 and a half hours to walk all the way around each part of the terminal!

Not often you get *A lounge access with OneWorld but it does happen:

Hi there,

I am currently sitting in the BKK QF/BA Business lounge and the time is 8.15AM BKK time. I was shocked to find out the lounge is open at this time of day. I am flying 3K512 to SIN and normally I just sit at the gate as I know th elounge is closed but this time I wanered down there to get a quiet seat to sort out some paper work and low and behold the lounge was open. I am going to find out when thsi started to happen and get back to you all.

I just asked the counter lady and the lounge is open early due to a Finnair flight just for the month of March, it reverts back to opening at 12.30pm next month, I am one very lucky WP...... I wonder if they advertised this at all anywhere...

I think you will find that they knew you were already in the J lounge as I have had this, asked why I need not show my BP and card and they said they remembered me in the J lounge so I think others would nto have a chance of getting in....

Spent a bit of time in the Louis Tavern lounge as well as the QF J Lounge at BKK- I think it's a woeful airport compared to any terminal at SIN or HKG generally.

Not helped by the fact that the last time I was there, it was with a twelve hour layover following a typically horrific LY flight (connecting to a TG redeye.)

The LT lounge reminds me a lot of the old CBR QP. Dated decor, small, and not the sort of place you'd want to be when it's anything approaching busy.

Seperate to this, availed myself of their accomodation and had a decent kip. Blessedly, wasn't paying with my money, otherwise I'd have baulked at the cost
