That was the only hot option available on the buffet? You'd think they'd put something else out there (the starch which accompanies that dish doesn't count). Even hot pastries, or even another stewed dish, like curry. Or even something lame-ish like chilli con carne.
I guess it'd be back to the sandwich toaster then (unless they only provide these in the domestic Business Lounges).
Maybe when they finally refresh the International Business Lounges in Australia (SYD and MEL obviously not high on the list), we'll see better fare being put out. That said and done, even in say the HKG lounge, the selection doesn't abound in a lot of hot food. When I was last in HKG, there were some nice braised or roasted chicken pieces, and I think a hot noodle dish. The rest of the main fare were salads, although I have to say these were very good salads (often are), and I'm not a health freak so if I say it's a good salad, you can take that to the bank. HKG also has some hot fare offered during select times of the day as plates or small serves on trolleys. I'm hoping the refurbishment of the International Business Lounge in BNE will bring about a similar catering scheme.
Nothing wrong with lamb stew, but that said it doesn't matter what it is, it has to taste good. Stews will never be easy to present appealingly in a buffet style setting. I often find a lot of buffet stews are underseasoned, especially the meat, so sometimes it's like you're eating wet styrofoam. Also, they go overboard in the proportions of potato : rest of the ingredients (especially the meat, although some people do tend to just pick up all the meat, leaving thin pickings for the next patrons).
P.S. you're not the most highest valued customer cohort, otherwise you'd be wiser and in the F Lounge
