I'm considering applying for an upgrade in the international segment of my upcoming journey. I have economy from BNE - SYD, then SYD - CHC booked on one PNR. The international segment is less that 4 hours. If i get a successful upgrade will i be able to use the lounge in Brisbane as well, even though that segment would retain economy. I know one world lounge rule honours flights if within the same day if business class but the flight is less than four hours. Otherwise ill just use a lounge pass and stay economy. No status as yet but will hit gold after my outward journey. (double status credit offer)

It is five hours to be defined as "long haul".

in any case, the Trans Tasman flight does not meet the "long haul" definition so not normally any lounge access before the domestic sector.
