I'll be flying with cx on qantas codeshare from hong kong to rome return out of brisbane. I've looked at cx site and I think I will be able to access their lounge in hk and rome being silver and qantas club member. Am I correct? Also if I can access lounge in Rome, does anyone know when the counter opens to allow access into int'l?
Will I be able to use a small backpack on board other than my cabin bag? Trying to minimize what I carry or take.
Thank you for any help.

Hi Trish...

My understanding is that as a QF Club Member, you will only be able to access the Qantas/British Aiways lounge.

To get into the CX Lounge, you would need to be a oneworld Sapphire or Emerald cardholder or Flying Business/First Class on the CX flight number.

I may be wrong because of the codeshare agreement with CX, but I would call QF to confirm.

Sorry if this dampens your spirits...

Correct. Being on the QF flight number and a Qantas Club member permits access to the Qantas Club lounge at HKG.

CX will permit access to their lounges in HKG for all OneWorld flight numbers when tarvelling in business or first class. This is their own local policy and not part of OneWorld lounge access benefits. So you could use the CX lounge if flying in business or first class on the QF flight number of a CX operated flight.

I am not sure what lounge facilities exist at FCO. But even if CX has a lounge, you will not have access to that lounge unless you have OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status. There is no Qantas Club lounge at FCO.

thanks for the replies, when I looked at the cx site I read silver, gold, etc. and thought that meant me with my qantas club entitlements......I hadn't looked at cx m'ship.
will I be able to access the qantas club in HK as I'm flying in with Qantas and have Qantas flight no. for cx? sorry to sound so dumb but I've not flown this route before and I like to have an idea of what i'm entitled to. It's a long wait in HK...
thanks, trish

BA have a lounge @ FCO
The BA lounge at FCO is not going to be of any use unless the passenger hold OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald status. A Qantas Club member can only use a BA lounge when travelling with BA using a BA flight number, not when travelling with QF flight number.
