I am travelling business class on Malaysian Airlines from Perth To KL on a QFF ticket. Am I able to use the Qantas lounge in Perth. Also when I arrive in KL I will connect on a Malaysian Airlines economy flight to Ho Chi Minh. Am I able to use the business lounge in KL whilst in transit

(1) Yes
(2) Under OW rules yes, but lounge staff don't always know the rules, so keep your fingers crossed.
The relevant rule (below) can be found here:
Connecting between oneworld marketed and operated flights:
  • First and Business Class customers connecting on the same day of travel, or before 6am the following day, can access the lounge when travelling between an international long haul (a oneworld international long haul flight is defined as an international flight marketed and operated by any oneworld carrier with a scheduled flight time longer than 5 hours) and an international short haul or domestic flight (and vice-versa).
  • Lounge access will be determined on the international long haul ticketed flight (either First of Business Class) regardless of the ticketed class of travel on the international short haul or domestic flight.
  • You must be prepared to show your boarding pass or itinerary showing travel in First or Business class on the international long haul flight, in order to access the lounge before your international short haul or domestic flight.
It doesn't make any difference but when you say you are on a QFF ticket do you just mean a ticket issued by Qantas or do you mean an award flight?
If it is an award ticket, once you have made the booking the fact that you used points to pay for it is irrelevant and you are entitled to exactly the same benefits in the relevant class of travel as if you had paid cash for the booking. (With the possible exception of upgrading.)

Most probably. MH have a curious policy that allows arriving MH J-class pax to access their international lounges, based on that criterion alone.

And here it is confirmed on the MH website:

I've used the MH international arrival access rule quite many times at KUL. So far, it's always worked for me.

Agree with above answers.
If you have a separate ticket forthe second leg (say issued by MH) then the answer is still yes (officially according to the rules and also personal experience)
Make sure you keep the boarding pass from the QFi J flight

Just piggy back on this thread but not exactly the same situation: we are flying JAL business class from HND to SIN, then SIN-KUL on economy with MH, KUL-PER on business also MH. Can we get access to any lounge in SIN ? JAL or MH ? Not sure what lounge is available in Changi.

MH has a partnership with the SATS lounge (a Priority Pass lounge) in SIN Terminal 2. QF has The QantasSingapore Lounge Terminal 1
As your SIN-KUL sector is Y you need to be QF Gold and above to get access or similar One World Status. Or a Priority Pass, or cash will get access to SATS

But Changi itself is worth not going into a Lounge. I would forgo lounge in SIN and use the MAS Golden Lounge in KLIA.

JL arrives SIN at T1 where Jewel is located so check out the Rain Vortex if you have time to clear immigration or look out for it from the SkyTrain...

I think the OP will have lounge access, even without status.

The OP is arriving in to Singapore on JL longhaul business class (a flight longer than 5 hours) and connecting to a short haul international flight. The higher class of service on the long haul determines lounge access eligibility at the connecting point.

Thank everyone, we deliberately choose 9 hr transit in Singapore so my wife could do a bit of sightseeing (quick shopping more likely). Just a backup I might just retire in a lounge while she browses the airport.

I would recommend one of the outdoor swimming pools

Wait a minute, swimming pool !!!! Is that in Changi or some exquisite lounge ?

Open to anyone. Airside, Terminal 1. There's a small fee for entry - I forget but something like USD12. It's outside and a bit of fun for an hour or so... but it can get quite busy.

There really is no reason to visit a lounge.

By the time you arrive in the morning, have breakfast, have a look around, do a bit of shopping, go for a swim, have lunch , then find Terminal 2 and do gate security, thats about it.

Can even watch movies in a movie theatre

Aerotransit Airport transit hotel Terminal 1 with Rooftop pool.

True. But at least your aircraft has great coffee.
SRSLY we need a ban on all references to that video.
But I agree, SIngapore is not a place I think of when I think of great coffee.

A deviation here,,,

What's the opinion on MH first lounge in KUL and the CX lounge - i believe these are the only OW lounges
