Looking at flying MEL-SIN on Jetstar in 'J' Am I crazy?

We are heading to Singapore on/about 10th June and I'm contemplating flying JQ Business. It's a daytime flight so seats are more than adequate rather than needing beds.

Am I crazy for even considering this:?:

I flew with partner and kids on the same flight last year. For the price it's OK. Nothing special, I expected worse to be frank. The extra space is good for 8 hours. Better than Y..

Overnight is another matter...

You'll be fine. Singapore is not that far and it is a day flight.
Anyway, it sure beats being up the back of the bus.

Only way to do this is going via the Flounge first..... then you won't need anything onboard

No, not crazy just pragmatic. You still get to eat/drink/love in the MEL F lounge with priority boarding.

For a day trip it's totally acceptable. I find an aisle seat in the middle reduces the requirement to stand up and let people out. Is it because I look like it would be better to get out the other side?

J is fine for a daytime flight - provided the cabin isn't too full, it gets cramped rather easily with the tight pitch.

Perfectly fine for a daytime flight.
Even get a half decent meal onboard (unlike on Scoot Business)

JQ J is better than full service Y for a day flight (or for a night flight, for that matter!)

I think you're crazy for imagining that JQ will stick to whatever flight time or date that you have booked. I'll never book them again because of their cancellations and schedule changes, not because they're that bad onboard. It's getting onboard at the time you expect that's the hassle.

It is misleading by JQ to call it business class. In my view it is not as good as Premium Economy on other airlines.

Flew back on JQ business class on 787 from Bali in December and was dreadful. After meal was served did not see crew again even for a water run. Seat hardly reclines and is uncomfortable. Wine they serve is shocking and after one sip left it

On the trip over had exit row in economy and huge amount of leg room. Seat still uncomfortable.

Do not waste the money on business class on Jetstar. Save the money and if you must travel Jetstar then book exit row and with money you save keep telling yourself that your going to use it have a great meal in Singapore or if there on a Sunday brunch in a 5* hotel with free flowing champagne and premium wines!

If you would like comfort and a lie flat bed Dreamliner, then fly Royal Brunei for $1339 one-way in J. Depart MEL 12.15pm arrive SIN 8.30pm.
If you would like booze and a 3 hour quicker journey then take the JQ flight. for $900 (or $1200 with the bundle).

For me, I would take JQ and no bundle on MEL-SIN if I had lounge access.
But I would take RB instead of JQ with the bundle.

The seat has the same recline as QF Prem Econ, no it's not ideal for sleeping but to say it hardly reclines is not true.
If you can nab Row 1 that's the best row so no one reclines into you.

I've flown it well over ten times now, as it's a good compromise for a little bit more comfort than Y and a few more status credits.

Having tried both row 1 and 2 I would say only the window seats are acceptable in row 1 as the aisles look into straight the galley effectively, there is little or no personal space (the middle seat is obviously a middle seat )

We always fly J long haul but we cant believe we are going from CNS/DPS/CNS on JQ A320 let alone in Y seats - must be nuts, no J available on this sector, chose exit seats in row 13 and row 12 does not recline, should be Ok for 4.5 hour flight. Last time in Bali years ago was a nightmare at airport, full of bogans, escaped to the lounge as J pax, this time no access so not looking forward to return.

Both lounges in DPS allows pay per entry regardless of whom you're flying or class of travel. Prices quoted when I was there last year was around AUD 20 per person.
