Hi all,
I'm looking to book a RTW fare departing in december so I'd like to get it sorted before too long to ensure availability as I don't have much leeway with dates, initially anyways, meaning that I can't just book it online with dummy dates.
I've sorted out my routing using the OW online booking tool with the initial flight on Lan to reduce taxes.
FWIW, it's AKL-SYD-HKG-NGO-NRT-LAX-SCL-ICP-SCL-LIM-MEX-YVR-LHR-MRU-JNB-SYD-WLG
What I would like to find out is:
As I'll need to book the ticket with open segments, how do I go about booking it? Will I have to call Lan and book it through them or is it still possible to book it through AA as the NRT-LAX leg will be with them? Are there any other options for booking?
Has anyone had any experience ticketing with Lan?
Thanks

Which airport is ICP?

I'd suggest it's meant to be IPC (Easter Island) - a little dyslexia crept into the post.

Sorry OP cannot help with your question - be patient, I'm sure some answers will be forthcoming!

G'day aversion, welcome to AFF.:D

If you book and ticket by 12 April you will get a 10% discount (or in fact, the xONEx base prices ans currently 10% less than they were in January).

I would avoid open segments; it would be better to book dummy dates and then change them once you confirm them. If you book through AA this should be FOC as long as you do not reroute; i.e. Only change dates, time, carrier.

You may be able to book online, or, for more on how to book using the AA ATW desk, look at this thread here:

Thanks serfty, I'd found that thread whilst researching how to go about sorting the ticket out.
I've also found some other threads and it seems booking dummy dates is by far the safest and easiest way to go.
So, if I book dummy dates then change the date of a flight, will I then need to change the date of all subsequent flights or will it be fine to leave those dates unchanged so long as that date has not already passed?
For example, if I have flights booked on 1 June and 17 June and I change the date of the original flight to the 20th, will the flight on the 17th need to be changed to a later date at the same time or can I leave as is and make the change later?

This is not OK. A-B on June 1 and B-C on June 17. The A-B segment must always precede B-C in booked date/time.

As long as the flight segments continue to be booked in chronological sequence in relation to the order of the booked segments then it's ok.

When i have booked my xONEx's i have always just guessed about when i want to go and changed it later to what i later had decided i really want.
I think its easiest to just do a dummy date.
