Overlooking the Swimming pool, the diving pool is on the far end.

And of course me on the pool deck!

Would you believe some of the timing systems in that pool are based of a pool from a High School on the Gold Coast... only pool in the world that matches the exact specifications of the pool in London. Yet I couldn't talk my way into getting access to the pool during a visit to London last year. :(

We will be there for the Olympics.

I have quite a large group attending with me. Closer to the date, maybe we can work out a get together. I'm hosting my group (family and friends) so I will be spending the majority of my time with them.

Due to my house renovation not being completed, we are all staying at the Mandarin Oriental for 3 weeks so it's a fairly central location.

Boss

Although I will be fairly busy with work, hopefully I can catch you at one of the events! I don't have my UK number yet but will PM it to you once i get the numbers.

They were really strict on security when we were there last year...

I've got a few giffgaff SIM's if you want, although IIRC you have a new iPhone so no good as they're not Micro... £10 gets you 250 mins, unlim text and unlim data though ; so not bad if it does suit!

Make contact closer to the time and we'll sort something out! The project I'm working on finishes end of June so I'll be ready for a bit of relaxing time I think!

Well, we are lucky enough to be living in London now. Two weeks ago, we managed to get 2 tickets to the mens football at the Old Trafford in Manchester, so will take Virgin trains there from London. I read in the news today that they could not sell the womens football tickets for some reason! :) I am going to try to ballot for the leftover tickets towards the end of May for events no one wants - even though it will be slim to none. Hubby said we will go to the unpopular ones to have a better chance of getting tickets to the events at the Olympic Park or a London venue.

We received an email from a friend living in Melbourne whom we knew for more than 30 years ago. He said he is coming to London for 3 weeks working as a volunteer with AOC (to help Australian athletics winning gold - hopefully). He said "do not be alarmed about accommodation" because he will be squatting with his nephew near Greenwich. I told him that "worst come to it, we will have a sofa for him!" :)

We tried that too, unpopular events when the 2nd round happened (for those who missed out in the first). Still wasn't any good! Good luck ;)

We use Giff Gaff and it is a winner on our English I Phone and the money seems to last forever when you put 5 or 10 pounds on the re-load.
If you want success getting tickets just apply for ones at least one level up from the base cost. If you apply for the most basic cost tickets you can get knocked out and get none. We maxed out our first name and we are using a second registration to finish buying tickets.
The Aussie women in water polo should be worth watching.
I think we get to London about 3 days before the Olympics start.

Agree, we did that - bought football tickets at prices above the base price, and got them. However, it seemed they have had problems selling the football tickets. The newspapers said they still have 1.4m tickets to sell! I guess everyone here just wanted to see games when the GB team playing, and only those tickets got sold. We will try to get tickets for events which have Aussie teams. Hubby has written out a few which he wanted me to chase when tickets become available - fingers & toes crossed tightly.

If anyone wants to avoid the game-crowd in London, I will be in IBZ and we can party to a different type of crowd ;) FMIF stars highly and so does Space Club :)

Because of the connection to the Sydney team we were given free choice of three events for the family to the Sydney Games. Saw some wonderful Aussie gold medals in swimming and track and cycling. Apparently beach volleyball didnt sell well prior but the prelim games became a real hit so we nabbed some last minute tickets after the games had started! Fantastic watching the Brazilian team at Bondi.

Unfortunately this time round, Aussies had much better chances of getting tickets in the ballot than the local British people did which is a shame.

Well I'm now getting to the pointy end of my work, with about 6 weeks left to finish our mock office build to test everything then pack it and ship it over to London.

Similar TonyHancock, my brother and I leave Europe on July 24, FRA-xLHR-SIN. That will be interesting I am sure

Very jealous of those here who are going to the games :D Have fun!!

I just realised that it's exactly 2 months today until I fly out!!

Hi nlagalle,

What's your line of work if you don't mind me asking?

I work indirectly with one of the squads, however won't be on the Bus (or Boeing) to the motherland in any official capacity unfortunately.

I have managed to schedule a few days in town towards the end of the event, however tickets have been a no go thus far (would pay a reasonable amount of $$$$ for closing ceremony tickets).

Cheers!

We haven't been able to get opening ceremony tickets so it may mean a scalper or dust. We are good for the rest.
