Yeh I had the same problem also for a period (for coles) What are the value of your purchases? <$10 purchases through self checkout did not post for me. Even a $20 one. Ones around $40-50 through normal full service checkout worked. All this started middle of October

I too am having issues. I have 2 cards enrolled in LC but I only use one. This gives me the advantage of knowing how many transactions I am in front of someone who has just joined. Lately I have lost my LC status at Coles and Liquorland because the system is not recognising my purchases. I know this because the app tells me that I need 3 and 5 more purchases to regain LC. The card I don't use tells me the same. I have made 15 purchases at Coles and 8 at Liquorland in the last 30 days. I have contacted Amex and have been told I am the first person to query the LC game! They are going to get back to me.....

What a load of nonsense! I've called them twice about LC issues. Note, I never received the promised call back on either occasion.

I have the exact same issue too, also with Coles. All my transactions have been through the self-checkout, ranging from $1-$200. I've logged an email case with AMEX over the weekend. I've been having the problems for a couple of weeks now.

I have not managed to get them to add transactions to local champion status. But two of my purchases whilst local champion did not score the bonus points after 1 week - and I got them to add this.

I was only a few behind at Big W and split a purchase up to get to LC recently. Still behind too. No change in status. I suspect Amex are enforcing the rules on purposely splitting payments.

Not so sure about this. I made several purchases at Myer over the last few weeks and there was no reduction on the number of transactions to achieve LC. In the past, the transactions required reduced instantly after each payment.

My tally went up by two in Coles when I made one payment at selfcheckout then one on the tobacco counter in quick succession. Seems to only go up by one if you use adjacent selfcheckouts. I have a feeling Amex have snuck in a minimum spend but not certain

yeh I think there is now a minimum amount. also if it works it goes up instantaneously

Another datapoint on this: This morning LC said I was 4 transactions off being LC at my local supermarket. I made four small transactions and nothing changed. There was certainly no real time update as stated in the T&Cs.

I then completed my main shop and magically there was a realtime update to say 3 transactions to go.

I've also reviewed T&Cs and there is no minimum transaction stated, nor are gift cards excluded.

I'll give it 24 hours in case there's a back end glitch, then query it with them.

After 2 weeks and 5 phone calls to Amex, they finally acknowledged that they have a problem with some parts of LC. They offered me a "point adjustment" which was more than acceptable. I am still not LC at Coles and Liquorland but at least at WW I still am. In one last effort I have deleted Coles and Liquorland from my ten merchants but will put them back in 2 days to see if anything changes.

why don't you use cashrewards to buy woolworths egiftcards - save 5% off purchase. got to be worth more than the extra 1 ascent point.

I just rang AMEX regarding my local Coles that local champion doesn't update at all. I actually rang them weeks ago inquired about the same issue. The kept saying the app doesn't update instantly (really? Why other retailers does?) and you should just keep shopping because that is the real number. I wasn't really happy with this response and all they say is they will escalate it to marketing team. ( same as last time...) :down:

OTOH, I've somehow managed to retain LC status at my local Coles, even though I haven't used my card there for a while...... since I'm working my way through the stack of CG&M GC's obtained via the Myer and 1st Choice Liquor offers.

Or maybe all my potential competition is doing the same thing.

my understanding is that you register the shop and if you become the biggest spender of that shop who have reigstered, then you get an extra 1 point subsequently

and if you arent the highest you dont get bonus points?

so for a big store like coles or woolies, youd have to be the biggest spender? wouldnt it be better to by the 5% discounted wishgift cards? I assume you dont get the extra points for a gift card

Substitute 'most frequent spender' for 'biggest spender' in the above, and your understanding is correct. Note that very small and near-simultaneous transactions don't always appear to count in one's 'spend tally'.

I saw the thread about legalities of 1c transactions in another section,

unless its a small store that no one has registered, I assume it would be near imposible to become the champion of your local supermarket?

is there any other way to get benefit from this? I use a lot of wish gift cards?

I shop twice a week at my local Woollies and that's been enough to gain and retain LC status. My local IGA I was LC initially, lost it, wasn't able to retain it. So it does depend on who else is chasing the LC point at your locals.
