I shop twice a week at my local Woollies and that's been enough to gain and retain LC status. My local IGA I was LC initially, lost it, wasn't able to retain it. So it does depend on who else is chasing the LC point at your locals.

very good point, thank you

thank you

I saw the thread about legalities of 1c transactions in another section,

unless its a small store that no one has registered, I assume it would be near imposible to become the champion of your local supermarket?

is there any other way to get benefit from this? I use a lot of wish gift cards?

I did become lc at my local little supermarket. Had to do about 8 transactions but worth it.

Became LC at my SCA after one shop.

Mrs 2tall4Y was local champion at our local Coles and all it took was an average of three weekly shops. Obviously depends on how aggressively others are playing the 'game' at your local supermarket, but the app will tell you how many more transactions you need at any given time to be local champion for your selected establishments, so you can decide if it is worth your time and effort chasing it.

Local champion seems quite hit/miss.
Always use the 5% off WISH cards at woollies, unless you value the points at more than 5c/$1 spend.

My local coles, all through manned checkouts (no self service), I have tried various amounts, separately - through splitting, etc, all in the past month or two.
I think minimum spend needs to be $40 to activate. Recent $30 transactions did not show up at all!!!.(Tried $2, $20 several times, $30. $40 ones went through). If it is going to show up on your app, it shows up instantaneously after the spend.

Also having issues with my MR points with Plat Edge. My coles have incorrectly shown as 60pts (for $50 spend - should be 150 points). And also with Dan murphys $50 spend for 60 points (interestingly, I spent twice on the same day - one showed $50=150pts, other showed $50=60pts. I called MR and they said they are investigating. Yes I did get $10 cashback with amex, but that has nothing to do with initial MR points

I can confirm that last night I made a bunch of $1 transactions in order to become Local Champ (online business) purchases were recorded instantly and I was showing as Local Champ, I then made a $1275 payment.

Definitely no limit..
I regularly split transactions at my local supermarket (Woolworths), but u need about 25/mth to keep LC

Earnt an extra 1000pts on LC since it launched on Android

what sort of stores are people getting bonus points for???

I know every point counts but im trying to see what decent purchases can be made,

most of my payments seem to be done online etc.

I am nearly exclusively earning LC points with Edge
at Coles. I do have a Business Accelerator which makes other stores futile. I use WISH at WW group

the 10,000 points for LC limit is per calendar year or my 12 months since holding the card?

I'm at ~9000 LC bonus points with 5 months in of having my explorer card

Afraid it's 10k per card ever. Having said that I had filled my quota on Edge and it reset at the relaunch

Supplementary cards can't be used to 'play' Local Champion I am afraid - the menu option is simply not available for these cards in the Amex app...

oh right, bugger :p

oh well, time to use the supplementary cards then ;)

Can these be used?

Are you talking about supplementary cards that are in your own name?

I thought supplementary cards in someone else's name could be used for LC.....??

I used to have a supplementary card (in my name) on Mrs 2tall4Y's Qantas Anex Premium account and she still has a supplementary card (in her name) on my Qantas Anex Ultimate account - neither of these supplementary cards have been able to be registered for Local Champion.

oh well, not much else I can try then, apart from signing up for another AMEX card which I do not want to do as yet.

I think AMEX is having terrible problems with LC and Coles for some reason. It was working perfectly before the LC relaunch, but since then I've had nothing but problems at Coles and I notice a few others on AFF have had similar issues at Coles.

All my small transactions at Coles don't count towards LC. Over $50 does. I have just done a $25, $35 and a $45 transaction over the last 2 days to see where the minimum spend is....probably in the same boat as prozerran. We'll see.

Hmm my local shop has 3 transactions and im the LC, yesterday I spend 3 transactions $20. Hmm When do I become the LC for it??
