I wouldn't necessarily recommend using this as a travel money card, but if you load at least $100 onto a Qantas Pay card (formerly Qantas Travel Money) between 28 May - 5 August 2025, you can get 1,000 points. The $100 can be in AUD or foreign currency. Offer is for new cardholders only.

Puts me out.

Post covid I was only keeping the card to ensure a physical card as at the time this was the easiest way.

Funnily, two years ago I remembered a US$50 balance I had due to a forgotten promotion where I valued the points to be earned greater than the horrendous exchange rate the product has.

I used most of it in a Walmart at KC.

They do have regular promos for existing holders, with bonus points for loading up a foreign currency amount. But unlike just AUD, you’re buying into the 3% fee upfront and of course, if you’re not spending straight away, it’s loosing value sitting in someone else’s bank account (the issue with all preloaded cards, Wise etc included).

wouldn’t all current frequent flyers have had the previous card, how many people would be considered new users.

No, you had to “opt in” to get the double sided card.

Maybe post the switch, re-opting in might be treated as a new customer?

Neat - signed up, loaded $100, will report back on how long it takes to see the 1k points.
Just note the t&cs state "...then add and spend $100 or more of Australian Dollars or equivalent in any foreign currency before 31 August 2025."

So I read you need to spend the $100 also. Smarter people than me can advise whether withdrawing the $100 at an ATM counts.

Good pickup. ATM probably won't count.

For promos like these I like to top-up my health insurance, Opal card, Toll account, etc..

Well, technically I have had the card since it was issued to all members, but I have never loaded anything onto it. So might be new user of the card? I wonder if that counts?

As mentioned above, you must have “opted in” to activate the QF Money card. SYD+1 never activated it and never received a QF Pay card (nor replacement cards over the years, even though I did with the QF money activated.

But those original double sided QFF cards have all long expired (they only lasted 12 mths and not necessarily aligned to a members QFF year…🤷‍♂️ - plus a whole new QF Pay card required).

If you haven’t already, applying for a new QF Pay card *might* count as a new customer?

Sorry, the fee I was referring to, was to load funds from a debit card I mean, ie, to suck funds from your visa debit or matercard debit to the QP card.
Was free for a while, did use it, then the fee came on (again), now its off.
