I said in the EK thread I would not mind being a boeing sales rep, maybe I could look after Lion Air as well (35 were also announced as an order for leasing company ACG):

Boeing's New Airplane - Lion Air makes king-size move with 737 MAX

BALI, Indonesia, Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing (NYSE: BA) and Jakarta-based Lion Air today announced a commitment for the airline to order 201 737 MAXs and 29 Next-Generation 737-900 ERs (extended range). The agreement also includes purchase rights for an additional 150 airplanes.
"The 737 MAX will be the future of Lion Air," said Rusdi Kirana, Lion Air Founder and President Director. "The highly efficient, technologically advanced airplane will help Lion Air continue to bring low fares and allow us to open new destinations because of the longer range of the airplane."
With 230 airplanes at a list price of $21.7 billion, this deal when finalized will be the largest commercial airplane order ever in Boeing's history by both dollar volume and total number of airplanes. Boeing and Lion Air are working to finalize details of the agreement, at which time it will be a firm order posted on the Boeing Orders and Deliveries website. Lion Air will also acquire purchase rights for an additional 150 airplanes valued at more than $14 billion if exercised at list prices.

Geepers, where are the going to get the $ for all those aircraft?

Won't this make their total fleet larger that QF's?

Amazing stuff

And where will they fly them to? From Jakarta direct the 737-900ER could reach the east coast of Australia, Beijing, Tokyo, Mumbai.

The cabins of new JT planes are absolutely gorgeous, and the service is stunning. This is an exciting move.

And Lion Air continue their shopping spree.

Indonesian low cost carrier Lion Air plans another aircraft order in February 2012, and stressed that its November order for 230 Boeing 737-family aircraft is binding.

"In February next year we will sign another order," said Rusdi Kirana, president director of Lion Air. Rusdi declined to provide any more details of the planned deal.

Lion Air plans new aircraft order in February

I'm not convinced that they haven't lost the plot with so many orders!

Wow that is a huge order.

I had never even heard of this airline before reading this post.

Imagine the sales rep telling his boss he has a confirmed order for 230 anything boeing.

Factory manager has just said"WTF" is that form correct!!!!

Even if only half end up in the fleet and the other half end up replacements, imagine the ever increasing air traffic congestion, ground congestion and pilot requirement!

Also, if many go into the second hand market, the used values will collapse, and I actually wonder if there's a sufficient used market to take all the frames.

Yikes, their order just got bigger since first revealed. Well done to everyone.

I'm amazed that its bigger than the EK order for 50 x 777s!

Just wonder when the first aircraft will be delivered.

Have to wonder if they will have the demand for that many aircraft.

It could make leasing a few a bit more cheaper than the current rate.

If the end up with a few XHB's they can just leave them in the hanger and use another one.
