For a host of reasons, my wife, daughter and grand-daughter are travelling to Melbourne but are all booked on individual bookings. (Don't ask!) Now of course they have decided that the bookings should be linked! Is there any simple way of doing this? Sitting on hold for two ++ hours to talk to someone doesn't actually enthuse me. Is there anyway I can do it on-line?? Could I go to the Qantas Club here in Adelaide - it's only a 5 minute drive - and get them to do it? Would they? Any other options?

Thanks in advance.

Try the ticketing desk instead?

So you have all these bookings (Don’t ask!) what’s the need to link them now, does anyone in the travelling party have status that can pull in favours. Linking cannot be done online. You could go the Airport lounge however I suspect they will not be able to help until the bookings are under airport control. If you have no status just call QF put your phone on speaker and when the call is answered ask them to link the bookings. I am sure and some may suggest go to the airport and talk to the ticketing desk. I tried this once as a P1 in the old SST days and it was a waste of time.

If you want to be seated together by linking bookings then calling is the only way to have a reasonable chance of succeeding.

@ozbeachbabe would know more but you need to have a TCP assigned every way. (This is 6 ways for three separate bookings.)

I'm confused, why do they want them linked?

Qantas allows free seat selection on domestic flights so simple select seats next to each other otherwise I fail to see what linking them will do.

You could also try the social media team (they're based in Auckland), a message on facebook is best but note the response time is generally 5-10 hours (sometimes more).

So am I and maybe I was a little to vague in my post above. I always link bookings for Mrs and MissM to mine but I am P1 and have a reason to do so.

Simples- if you have status you want them to be seated next to you, not you next to them.

Seat selection before T-80 can be shocking for NB's.

Also a 6 way TCP means the chances of being split up due to a random decision by some agent is significantly reduced by some agent somewhere.

I'm a bit confused though... OP said the wait time is 2+ hours. Either that means they don't have status or is Qantas really that bad it takes 2 hours to get through to them with status.

I called Qantas a few days ago but have no status and the wait was ~1.5 hours. For the record, I called Virgin the other day and was answered in a few minutes (as Gold), and Air NZ tonight as gold was a couple of minutes.

The linking of bookings is simply for the DCS to link up the bookings, seats will still only be able to be selected on the day at a kiosk or a manned counter.
Linking prior to check-in is sort of pointless in regards to seating if not done at the airport.
Linking in the reservation system is simply a 'note' that it is 'linked' with another booking, during the non airport control phase, theoretical seating won't change at all and will stay the same for all parties.
