Wow!

The passenger service charge has almost doubled. How do they justify these increases and get away with them?

New terminal and infrastructure upgrade would be driving this
Understand but on a $101 airfare the increase is ~7%.

Eventually the new terminal and infrastructure upgrade will be paid for but the passenger service charge will more than likely remain.

Personal travel for November booked - saving of $60 :)

I hope the new terminal is worth it when it eventually opens. The web site says opening October (it was September before) but it didn't look anywhere near ready when I was there yesterday.

Thats a lot better ! Took them a while to work it out though.

What are the plans for the QP and J lounge?I didn't like the QP there as half of CBR congregates there and the J lounge is the most 'non-dragon' of the lot, spacious and welcoming, IMHO,

Cheers. spruce

I was told a few months ago at the QF corp travel show that the QP and J lounge would end up taking all of the top floor of the new QF terminal, for similar sized lounges to the QP and J lounge in SYD domestic.

Of course I was also told that QF would be in the new terminal by 1st October, but when I went through CBR on Sunday night the new terminal still looks like it's at least a month away from being ready for fitout let alone actual use by passengers.

...and back to 15.96

If you get the chance to watch the CBR edition of ABC's Stateline it is worth it to see the new terminal and hear some comments about Tralee.

ABC 24 hour news channel often shows the various editions of Stateline.

May have to get there early on Sunday to see if I can be one of the first QF pax to use the new terminal. :)

Looks like you will be - flights are moving there from 5am tomorrow :)

I am currently in the J lounge. They are already packing up, and it closes at 10am... permanently.

+1, thanks for the link.

Love the aero bridges, look just like the clear glass sided ones in ADL. So nice to walk down to board and not be inside a metal box.

Looking forward to checking out the new terminal on Monday.

Ok so who will be the first of us to try out the QP and the best J lounge in the country and post a full report!!

Will be there Tuesday avo - will try and get some shots and provide a bit of a report if time permits.

Also suss out if they are using NG CI as yet?pick up and drop off arrangements for pax as well. It was a mess when I was there a few weeks ago.

I can't believe they're still harping on about flights to Singapore. Stephen Byron said 'within the next two years', the website has said within the next '12 months' for probably the last five years. Somehow, I don't think it's going to happen. Intresting that Stephen Byron also says no new taxes or charges to customers, but neglects to mention the increase in the taxes. The good thing is coffee will stay the same price (you wouldn't want to mess with a public servant who hasn't had their morning coffee)

It's Canberra International Airport - they flew to New Zealand once!

It's like the fast train argument Leightons had in the 80's, there simply isn't the patronage.
