Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Hopefully later this week QCP ( me) finally gets LTG.
Remember, you must provide screen shots of your status credit tallies before and after the momentous occasion, as proof, and to provide you with a talking point to show others - whether they want to hear about it or not :)
Welcome (shortly) to the club.

That card worked a treat in Papeete

Getting me to the front of the check in Line

Pity after that I was flung into the Long lines

No Qantas here … fortunately the adjacent upstairs area was empty and there was a good view of the tarmac

Ok here we go. I wont get to use the lounge as I go LTG on the return domestic leg and its with Jetstar. I am flying again later in the month but with Virgin , just to keep myself in the red.

Is that because the lounge is in the other terminal ?

It’s why I fly JQ out of Adelaide as o can go to the lounge
And why I prefer not to fly JQ out of Sydney or Melbourne (long hike and no fast track on the security queues)

That's one reason, the other is get I the remaining 4 status points on the return journey.

I'm 1,120 SC short of LTG. I first flew Qantas in 2009. I flew once a year between 2011 and 2015 (mostly leisure) then with a change in role, I began flying internationally (all Y class) for work and achieved lifetime silver Jan 2020. Covid hit and I didn't fly for three and a half years, so I made no progress at all towards LTG. I've had to use DSC offers to strategically reach Platinum status most years as my business travel is all Y class. Based on projected travel, I should hit LTG around 18 months from now.

As has been discussed by others, there's little incentive to keep flying Qantas after achieving LTG, given LTP is not realistically achievable. LTG will come in handy when I start travelling domestically with my wife and children when they (children not my wife!) are old enough to appreciate travelling around this beautiful country.

I saw someone posted earlier that they achieved LTG just six years after joining Qantas which is impressive going! It would be interesting to see how quickly others have moved up through the tiers. For me, it took 11 years from joining Qantas to reaching LTS, then if you ignore the three and a half years forced grounding, I resumed travel mid-2023 and I'm on track to reach LTG by the end of 2026.

Could not tell you when I made silver

However 2001-24 for LTG
even with 99% of flying on domestic QF 75% international the rest on partner airlines PLUS all the strategy on here (JASA DSC) and the flight I fell over the line was a JAL F

Never paid for Qantas club but always with lounge access

Still young enough to make the most of the lounge access and with cash to splash (eg can fly domestic J $500-600 refundable airfares and take the double points to fund short flights to Melbourne Sydney or Brisbane)

It took me 15 years (after joining Qantas Loyalty) to achieve LTG in 2017. Initially sporadic travel from 1996 then increasing after 2006.
