Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Congratulations Hvr on reaching LTG, the next best thing after winning the lottery.

Not trying to rain on Hvr's frequent flying LTG accomplishments (well done BTW) but LTG is not the best thing after winning the lottery ;) I can think of a dozen things in my mind right this split second that are much better than LTG ;)

Indeed. The best thing about LTG - achieving it with OPM....

I passed the LTG milestone last Friday. I have one more Qantas booking next week. I still have 3 or 4 BNE-PER return trips left this year and I'm trying to research my options on a new FF program, or maintain the status quo.

I must admit I like the WP status (shadow and reasonable success with points upgrades), and would find it very hard to start at the bottom again.

Well Done davyjohn!

I'm still happy enough to continue to fly QF and credit to both QF/AA.

The clincher for my "loyalty" to QF is the fact they are a one world airline - if that ever changes then I'll look elsewhere.

I like the Platinum benefits for my almost weekly SYD-BNE commutes.

Other than my congrats to those achieve LTG, I've only got an irreverent observation to add: what is the requalification mark for our religious friends who believe in reincarnation? 10000 SC's?

Just checked, and apparently 12,000 is the number for consistency with WP requal.

QF barely recognised loyalty from this life, what makes you think they'd carry any forward to the next? ;)

I got a letter about 6-8 weeks after hitting the mark. No card as they only send it when you actually need it I.E. when you are lower than Plat.

my letter arrived today. Nice welcome, with a caveat.

"Gold Lifetime recognition means you'll enjoy the privileges of Gold membership for like, no matter how often you fly*.

* The program award and benefits may change from time to time.

I also got my letter today and wonder if they need to update the form letter. Particularly the second paragraph which reads:

"This doesn't affect your current Platinum membership status."

Umm actually I'm WP1 at the moment.

Nor was it signed with a person's name, just "The Qantas Frequent Flyer Team".
