Life Time Gold - The [Realistic] Holy Grail

Hi John, completely missed this thread; well done on earning Life time Gold, I only just clicked over Lifetime silver this year so I at my current earning rate I might get to Life time Gold in about 10 years.

I took 17 years to get to LTS. At current rates of earning I think it will be about 48 years to get to LTG!

Most of my flying switched to VA a couple of years ago due to me having to pay my own fares rather than my former employer. For a while I had clients pay actual expenses but that changed to me charging a set amount so I aim to put more money in my pocket rather than QF's - sadly for them.

With an open ended cheque book?

Isn't it great when someone else pays the airfares and hotel accommodation?

Time away from loved ones - priceless. There is a flip side to every scenario, what you value determines whose grass is greener.

That's not what I meant.

The post I quoted mentioned to open up that AA account. Too hard to credit discount economy to AA when the money is coming out of your own pocket.

For someone like me I am not sacrificing money and status to earn some extra AA miles to nowhere.

You can apply to get it refunded, but you must have the same card you last paid for it to get the refund, that was a problem for me since it was 1997, its called make it hard to get the money back and utterly ridiculous.

I was a QC Life member, I highly doubt they will ever refund some of that, that was 8-9 years ago when I joined/started to do 1 trip to the USA each year, 8-9 years later I have just made LTG and P1 on the 1 return flight SYD-AKL

Have you tried?

Congrats and welcome to the LTG club.

Havent even thought about it until I read the last part of this thread!

I would be interested to know the answer to this as well as LTG is not too far away and I too have lifetime QC membership....

This next weekend gets me there. Mrscove is about 7 return MASAs to go to get there and they were all booked before they ended.
We are both Qantas Club Life.
My son booked a Classic J for 36,000 points and no issues for a return from MEL.

Well tomorrow morning on QF406 MEL/SYD I'll join the club. (I've been putting it off and have been flying VA :) )

Rather ironically on this route as that's been by far and away the most popular route for me in my QF lifetime, including a few years monorail commuting.

Thank you AFF and all the posters who have helped me in my travels, you have allowed me to travel in style and experience what I never thought id be able to do.

Congrats!

Hope to get there one day myself... just hope QF doesn't use the numbers on AFF as a reason to pull the benefit, despite the vast majority actually being WP+ currently ;)
