Finally reached LTG today!

I started flying QF after the demise of Ansett back in 2001?. So that's about 13 years of flying.

My only hope now is for QF to live as long as I will... another 50 years with any luck! ;-)
Congratulations.

I hope Qantas is around for another 50 years as well. Golf in the morning of my 100th birthday followed by flight (s) in the afternoon. A man can't wish for more. ;)

Thank you all :)

By that time, I'm hoping we'll be using the Qantas Teleporter... and I have no doubt "priority boarding" will continue to be an issue for some ;-)

Do you think they will also have a way to improve my golf as well? ;)

Just checked my summary after a flight taken yesterday, and I am exactly 3/4 of the way to LTG. 10,500 SCs. I fear that the last 1/4 will be a lot harder to get than any of the first 3, but it's still something to aim for.

Good luck with the chase. I might just make it half way this year.

Congrats not too far to go! It is my goal as well, though not exactly sure why! I am 500 status credit behind you at the moment, but will have a lot added to the total by the end of September (well a lot by my standards, although not in the league of many on here!)

Way to go! I'm at 10,665 with about 800 SCs in forward bookings. I'm wondering about the best way to burn 400k FFPs on mASAs to accelerate the process ;) once LTG I will be sending my international business elsewhere (inc OW partners) and might move all 700k+ points p.a. earning to another program. I'll use QF domestically and enjoy the LTG along with OW benefits for the rest of my life (subject to enhancements), and considering I'm only just over 30, I plan to get my money's worth ;)

Not seen this thread for a while but I aim to get LTG within the next 12-18 months and after that I will aim for LTP by crediting all my subsequent flights to BA ;)

I assume you already have some tier credits with BA and that you are not starting from scratch to get to LTP?

In fact why wouldn't you just credit to BA now and get LTG and then LTP with them? Why credit to QF at all?

Starting from scratch. It will take me 10-15 years.
Long term strategy ;)
Burning up my QFF points meantime.

Safety net, not to mention QF treats its own elites different to that of other programs...

BA is a good option! I'm planning on doing the same - without the desire/goal to achieve LTP. Since QF decided to hammer OW partners....hitting OWE with BA is the better/easier/cheaper option for me.

QF LTG is handy for EK, QFF awards and a "just in case" if QF gets instructions from the "sand-pit" and pulls out of OW.

Would you care to elaborate the comparative differences?

For me as a LTG, and now BA silver (OW sapphire, like QF Gold) the CURRENT advantages of my LTG are largely related to partners, specifically EK luggage and lounge access and that you also get lounge access sometimes when flying Jetstar as a QF gold. I really haven't noticed too much difference when flying QF.

Would you care to elaborate the comparative differences?

I'm not referring to any published benefits (besides award availability and the option for points upgrades), more anecdotally if IRROPS occurred they may tend to help you out over someone with high status in another program... or seat allocation as well.

And the last leg of my JASA has posted (MEL-AKL) and with it my Life Time Gold status is now showing. :)

Now to try and find a MASA before the end of the month.
