My brother has just reached lifetime PS and has lifetime QP (which I convinced him to do when he and I were burnt by the AN collapse). His new job will mean that he has to fly a lot more than before. We were discussing whether life PS + life QP was more or less a solid safety-net and to move his earning over to AA rather than going for life SG.

Any thoughts?

Depends on what cabin he expects to be traveling in. Which leads to how quickly he can find another 7000 SC.
Domestic QF is now a hard (ie low) credit to AA. And AA no longer has a soft landing.
OTOH the earn/burn calc is in AAs favor

Happy wandering

Fred

Thanks Fred

He'll mainly be in J and on CX and very few domestic flights. I was trying to convince him to go to AA for the earn/burn. He will just fly enough for EXP (5 times to HKG and once to Europe a year).
It is a bummer about the loss of soft landing, but the earn/burn is a better proposition than QF.

Speaking from my own POV I'd continue with QF until the last safety net of LTG before considering other options, as it should provide better value. I assume he has WP by virtue of the flights too?

By my calculations, 5x CX J to HKG and 1x J to Europe would net ~1680SC + ~4 QF flights... it could be done in 4 years!

If you get LTS for doing nothing other than what you would do anyway, its a benefit (ditto LTG). Something after all, is better than nothing at all.
