Have finally booked some flights. My return leg out of LAX to Syd on 29th August. Keen to see the Emirates lounge. Unless of course they change it once more and with VA of late that's highly possible!

Miss you by a day. I'm on VA2 on 28th August :)

Checking this thread to see what the best lounge would be (it seems I get a choice as Gold in J) but I'm sure anything could change before then!

I flew VA2 (landed this morning) and decided to check out both lounges (VA SG in J).

Etihad lounge was acceptable (with a great shower which I used as I spent the day at Disneyland before heading to LAX) but didn't really have any ambience and with the lack of windows passengers kind of didn't know where to look so I left after a glass of wine and some nibbles. It wasn't crowded at all though - there were maybe 5 people there.

I much preferred the Emirates lounge. I had a glass of Veuve followed by a few glasses of lovely Pinot Noir and sat on the indoor terrace. One of the bars down below had a live band which I could hear and that made it quite pleasant.
