LAX now has airside walkways between all terminals

Convenient yes, however after an eastbound flight into LAX I enjoy an outdoor walk. 😀
Probably more important for the west bound migration and easy transfer from Dom to Int flights.

About 10 yrs ago I flew to Ottawa via LAX (specifically QF SYD-LAX / US LAX-PHL-YOW). At the time, US had joined OW but operated out of the now demolished and rebuilt T3. I had to schlepp my luggage landside to T3, checkin and enter security there before hopping on a T4 transfer bus to access the AA lounge (no lounge in T3). Then back on the bus to board my flight from T3…!

I also used to do UA Dom —> NZ Int - it’s probably still quicker to walk through the car park? 😁

Glad to see it now opened. Just over 10 days ago I tried to do the airside walk from T1 to TBIT, but T3 was still blocked to TBIT (you can see the construction access still in 2nd photo), so had to backtrack to get bus from T2.

What does this mean for most Aussies who fly into LAX to connect onto other US cities?

Will we still have to exit to landside at TBIT when landing, then the re-clear security at another terminal?

Probably not. There’s an existing arrivals/transfers security screening point at TBIT off to the right (towards T4 onwards). Presumably they’ve put in similar towards T3/2/1?

Of course, your luggage needs to be check through. So collect and take to transfer belt before going through security.

HLO just go direct to security.

There is a TSA checkpoint in TBIT arrivals level just past the baggage recheck belts on the T4 side. Using that checkpoint sends you upstairs into the TBIT-T4 connector, where you can either head to T4 (arriving into T4 departures next to gate 41), or you can head back into TBIT airside. If you stay on the same level (instead of going downstairs to TBIT departures), you'll get to the QF F lounge.

I've used this checkpoint a number of times when flying AA out of T4. I'd check in at T4, then walk over to TBIT and use the transfer checkpoint as it tended to be faster then using the T4 checkpoint.

The LAX website hasn't updated their maps yet with this new TBIT-T3 connector. The interactive map also mentions that the T4 transfer checkpoint is "temporarily closed". It may be that they haven't updated the maps for over a year (I didn't use the TBIT checkpoints on my last trip).

It's been many years since NZ was in T2. They are in tbit (actually operator of the *a lounge).
Yes, of course! Obviously a *very* longtime since I was doing that (4x year) and NZ was flying SYD-LAX…

Walked from T5 to "Gate 9" and back to T4 today as I had a bit of time. The walk took me about 35 minutes.

Access from TBIT is on the same level at the T4 connector. If heading from T4, take that connector turning right and past the Qantas First Lounge then head strait ahead, past the oneworld Business lounge and continue.

If you are on the TBIT main concourse you need to go one level up to access it.

I believe "Gate 9" is the only single digit gate number at LAX - it is really part of T1.

View East from Gate 9 on a gloomy day:

Seaking of LAX, anyone know or heard of the ETA for the people mover?
