Latest information about 28 degrees card

We’re seeing the DCC option appearing a lot on POS machines in Spain. Quickly press EUR and move on. No dramas otherwise.

We don’t get the DCC option using ING debit (VISA), so maybe it’s a MC thing plus the merchant machine setup.
Yes, MasterCard is one of the nastiest for enforcing or offering DCC by default l find it a very annoying ripoff. But, as I have read, the scam is split between the restaurant and MasterCard.

I did not use Google Pay (after problems last year in Canada) but used the physical card and occassionally had to sign but normally just touch and go, even for significant amounts.
Oh, I meant to add that ApplePay has been working fine. No dramas tapping phone, tapping physical card and occasionally needing to insert card in UK, Portugal and Spain.

In Canada last year, and even occasionally in Australia, Google Pay on my Motorola is temperamental. Better to be safe and use the card. I was on the Outer Hebrides and often had to insert a card and sign.

There’s actually a lot of POS terminals around that will let you tap a physical card but not allow Apple/Google Pay. Just a limitation of the older merchant hardware.

Can I activate it without downloading a bloody app?

Edit: Can activate from account!

Probably but the app has a useful feature for “Temporary lock card” if you’re concerned about fraudulent charges or not using it.

Yes, you can probably “lock” via the website but the app is quick and simple. Obviously handy to track charges as you go overseas.

Applying for a sup card for my daughter and twice have now done the application and verification and nothing has arrived - called customer service and was asked to go to a post office to complete - It wasn't the verification that was the issue
The scary part is that they sent emails to daughter and myself letting me know card is on the way but when I called they have no records of anyone applying for the sup card

Has anyone used the complimentary 3GB / 15d Flexiroam eSIM option recently?

The Flexiroam Help page says you can activate it later (up to 6 mths) but when I click through to select the eSIM starter pack it shows “Instant activation”. It’s not clear if that’s just saying you’ll be good to go immediately (once you get the confirmation email) or if the 15d clock starts ticking immediately?

I got it towards the end of last year and it activated straight away. I contacted support and they were able to change the activation date for me. Not sure what the current process is.

Thanks. That's what I was concerned about.

At the moment in the app, it's pretty much as I described above and looks like it wants to activate immediately - although I do have an eSIM installed (I might delete that and try again).

Anyway, I'm off to Nth America at the end of the month. I'll probably order it from the QF lounge and report back!

I activated mine in the TK lounge IST enroute to Europe in Apr this year and all worked perfectly. On landing in Toulouse it picked up the local French carrier within a minute.

Activated Flexiroam towards the end of our travels in June.
Worked ok in UK.
In Zurich my phone showed two mobile networks and attempted to connect to both, but could not connect to the internet.
In Singapore there were no Mobile network options, I read later there are no Flexiroam options for Singapore.
I won’t be using Flexiroam again.
Next trip will be trying Alo Sim Esim.

I don’t know flexiroam but presume on a 7 week upcoming trip I could use it for the first 15 days free then slip over to Optus $5 day or eSIM I’ve used successfully a few times Ubigi?

Yes you’re correct not sure where I got that from. Though my iPhone did not detect or connect to any Flexiroam network provider in Singapore.
Thankyou. I am planning to use Flexiroam in November.
