Hi everyone

Looking at going to NZ later in the year, will use a QF I-Class sale for the way back, but over I will go LA economy.

It's cheap as chips and the booking class is "O".
QF website doesn't list "discount economy" as an option for LA - so I presume this fare will earn full Y status credits?

LAN (LA)including LAN affiliates
LAN Express (LU), LAN Peru (LP), LAN Ecuador (XL) and LAN Argentina (4M)

BGHKLMNOQSVYEconomy1 -
WPPremium Economy110%
DIJBusiness125%
AFFirst150%
Status Credits are earned on all eligible booking classes.
Excluded: Points and Status Credits are not earned on Codeshare Flights operated by airlines other than oneworld[SUP]®[/SUP] alliance airlines. Points are not earned in GNOQ classes on domestic flights within Chile, GKLMNOQSV classes on domestic flights within Argentina, GLMNOQSV classes on domestic flights within Peru and GNOQS classes on domestic flights within Ecuador.

I hadn't noticed that before - here's hoping!! In August I'm flying LAN from: SYD-SCL-UIO-LIM-SCL-SYD - all in Y. So pumped if this is going to be credited as Full Y rather than Discount Y as I will hit WP for the first time during the trip. Otherwise I will have 5sc left after returning.

Pablo, have you paid for that ticket yet? I have done very similar route a few times and may have some advice.

As for OP, full miles will be earnt. Only problems I have ever had with LAN flights and QFF points/SC:

1.- sometimes it can take weeks for points to get shown - including that sometimes half the segments in a trip may get credited in days, then the others 2 mths later
2.- as a general rule, discount economy domestic flights in all the LAN countries do not give you anything
3.- Have booked business trips, and only got Y points/SC as the ticket was ¨HK¨ class. That is of course only a full Y fare code, but it took me by surprise as booking was sought and given as a business fare.
4.- on occassion my pre-input QFF number has mysteriously dropped off some segments with Sth America, causing later need to send QFF scans of boarding passes, etc. If it is important to you you learn to check every single boarding pass at time of issue.
5.- If you have to go through the pain of claiming missing points online, you will discover that some of the LAN destination airport codes have not yet been included in the QFF selection options. So make sure that QFF number is actually on the boarding pass. :)

Sorry muppet, but I do not believe so. The table referred to relates to points earn, not status credits. If you go to the Qantas site relating to status credit earn, you will notice (if you look really hard) the following in the notes section:

+ For domestic flights within Australia, Qantas Discount Economy includes Red e-Deal (classes E, N, O, Q, S) fares, Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class, and fares booked in G class. For international flights, Qantas Discount Economy includes classes B, E, G, H, K, L, M, N, O, Q, S, and V, and Qantas & Jetstar Any Seat Awards booked in X class. For flights on Jetstar, Discount Economy includes travel on Starter Plus fares only.
# For domestic flights within Australia, Qantas Economy includes Fully Flexible (classes Y, B) and FlexiSaver (class H, K, M, L and V). For international flights, Qantas Economy is class Y. For travel on oneworld Alliance airlines or Air Pacific, Economy is class Y

So even though you get full economy points, I suspect you will get discount economy SC´s.

Pablo, I suspect you are in the same boat, but there could be a way around it for you ;)

Unfortunately the trip has been booked Juddles. Thanks for the advice though - I will check this out and make sure that my FF number is added to the bookings.

The way I understood what was eligible is that you don't get anything if you fly say domestically in Ecuador but it's ok if you fly from Chile to Ecuador. All my flights are between countries - don't have any 'domestic' flights - so hopefully that will work.

All my flights are 'N' Class - still in Y but hopefully they will be full Y SC wise rather than Discount Y.

I was also looking more at the statements on the website for Discount Economy etc and when you look at AA or BA etc, they actually list Discount Economy, Economy, Premium Economy etc. LAN only lists Economy. So I read it the same as muppet. Time will tell.

Thanks for your help and advice.

I just did a LAN flight to AKL in Business. Only received points for premium economy (no status points) but status credits for business. Overall happy with that.

Do you just book with LAN and add in your QF number? Or is there some trick, I looked ta J return SYD-AKL and at about $700 it looked ok for the SC's alone

What is the J seating / service like compared to QF ?

The J seating on LAN is equivalent to proper long haul J. (really good)

I just returned to Australia from this trip and can confirm that I only received Discount Economy SC for flying Y. So the table on the QF website is a bit misleading - you don't earn full Y SC.

And my points and SC have only been taking about 5 days to post. Can't wait for my last 2 flights to credit as they will make me WP for the first time.

LAN was pretty good - didn't get the same seating benefits as I would with QF but the flights were ok.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Congratulations on WP , I am waiting for my first welcome kit as we speak

It is I, Leclerc !

Did you call QFF and ask them to fix it up?

The cabin bonus for LAN on PE is only 10%, whereas Business is 25%.

I am doing this flight in a few weeks so will be interesting to see what happens with my crediting.

Thanks for the update Pablo. Glad you got WP.

Could it be that they credit PE instead of J because it's called Premium Business? It's confusing.

According to the QFF partner earning table booking classes D,I,J are considered business, so should be credited as business not PE.
Frequent Flyer - Earning Points - Fly - Airline Partners

I'm aware of this, and when I had the points credited manually by the call centre after I had returned from a SYD-AKL-SYD trip in J on an I class fare, they were credited as Business. However, now I look at my activity statement, it would appear as though it has been adjusted to PE, with the same SC and points as is to be allocated for J. Merely suggesting a potential cause of confusion.
