If only JQ had wide bodies (planes-mind you), from AU east coast to AKL/CHC, I would certainly use these... but there are none.
Yes, I also do know that several days a week, JQ has direct ADL to AKL flights, good for SC runs, cheap one ways going across, but not so cheap for coming back, if choosing JQ, but I now know LA does it (flights), so can use that via SYD.

JQ have had wide bodies going AU to NZ the 787. Not sure of the frequency, but I've seen MEL to AKL as a 787 before.

Reload, that was just a test run for those few weeks.
If you go to the JQ website now, these days, that JQ 787 (PS: I loved the size of the windows), there is none of them showing doing that route.
They did say in the blurb that it was a temp flight rota, using the wide body from MEL to AKL.
