Krisflyer SQ Waitlist

I'm just wondering around recent experiences to waitlisted flights clearing or not? I see most of Decembers flights being waitlist only, so wondering what the chances are of these being ticketed

I can’t speak to recent experience, but you could waitlist 100 flights and book a backup.

The Milelion did a long post on this last month which you might like to read.

Most business rewards are gone for next 12 months. SQ must be selling all their seats.

I've snaped up quite a few for July-Sept next year but they have gone faster than I remember

yeah i had a couple of mil KF points expiring.
have books trips for the family in J for all the school term holidays next year.
was suprised it was easy to find availability for 3 in J

Sorry to bring back this old-ish thread but I feel my question fits here best:

I finally had a largish number of KF miles expire later this month, and now preemptively booked two F Saver awards HND-xSIN-MEL for next June. Problem is I couldn’t get both on the same date so booked the same itinerary two days in a row (+1 leaves Wed, I leave Thu). The SIN-MEL leg seems to be the bottleneck here as it never has two awards on the same flight, while HND-SIN does sometimes, even on one of the days we’re traveling.

Now as I expected, once I got those booked and confirmed the same flights now both show as Waitlist options. My plan was to get both waitlisted on the other flight respectively, and then if one clears we can travel together, if not we’ll just travel 24 hrs apart.

I called up SQ and asked if they could add those to the waitlist attached to the existing bookings (because I do not have enough miles in my account anymore now to make a separate waitlist booking). It seems this used to be possible and I am sure I’ve done this in the past, but I called twice and on both occasions was told this isn’t possible.

Is this advice correct, or is this a case of HUACA?

i thought you waitlist first and then when you go into the waitlisted booking there is an option to book a back up flight. Perhaps as you did it in the wrong order it's stuffed it up.

I don’t think it works that way anymore, I believe they changed that a few years ago (at least the process summaries by milelion and others don’t show this option anymore).

Anyway, the flights I wanted were available and only once I booked them they became waitlist-able. (Well I could have waitlisted one after doing the first booking and with the miles I subsequently used for the second booking before completing that, but duh I did not think of that at the time 🤦‍♂️.)
