Hi all,
Just want to know of your thoughts on my situation. Recently I booked a flight with United Airlines (part of the Star alliance) to fly return from Sydney to San Francisco. I flew to San Francisco on United and everything went according to schedule.
One the way back from San Francisco to Sydney I was put on stand by for my United Flight because United oversold their tickets. I was advised to check in and wait at the gate to see if there would be any available seats at the last minute. There were no available seats. In the end I was FORCED to reschedule my flight because of United's mistake. They ended up putting me on an American Airlines/Qantas flight which would leave the next day. I had to fly from San Francisco to Los Angeles on United and then AA/Q from Los Angeles to Sydney.
I waited around six weeks to see if my frequent flyer miles would be credited to my krisflyer account and it hasn't so far. I called up krisflyer and explained to them my situation and they said that my united miles would be credited to my kris flyer account from Sydney to San Francisco, and from San Francisco to London. My flight from Los Angeles to Sydney would not count because I flew on a non star alliance airline. So my question to you all, is whether or not I can actually get my miles credited from my Los Angeles to Sydney flight. If I can, whom should I get in touch with. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
