Koala Airlines Discussion

From whatever scant plans the "Koala" is cooking up, it seems to be a Bonza 2.0 without actually being called that.

If that is the case, they would barely be competing with QF/JQ or VA on the majority of their 'so called' proposed network (whatever it is) if that's the case.

Getting leases is one thing. Finding a few hundred million in startup capital is another, then the next few hundred million once that is burnt.

Would seem the big ticket issue is that and then getting paying customers who want to bring along their pet platypus…. Just sayin’

Koala has a new logo and website, including an AI Koala...

The logo looks worse than the latest Qantas kangaroo imho, particularly around the face.

Facebook page is also up for Koala.

According to the Management Team LinkedIn search, all are employed elsewhere.

Seems like Bill is running this alone trying to find someone to fund it.

I hope he has read the Bonza creditors report. Will give him a good run down on expenses involved and how it’s somewhat not possible to make a buck here with such local costs not favouring a new startup with high lease costs.

Reminds me a little of this from back home.

And that talking Koala in the video… like what 🤣

Are there any updates about koala airlines??? Feel like it’s been radio silence for ages, any idea of any routes, seating types, start dates?

From the website: As the previous operations conducted under our AOC were considerably different to those of the B737-8 aircraft, Koala Airlines cannot conduct operations under this AOC until certain criteria have been met and approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority.

Management are currently working on the documentation required by CASA to undertake their formal assessment to ensure Koala Airlines meets all safety requirements before the certificate is finalised and issued.

From what I heard last week, is that they are still working on their AOC to update their Part 121 operations (larger aircraft).

It will be a long challenging road, and don't mention trying to write the new syllabus for their Operations Manuals. Those are doozies.

They also wouldn't just lose their AOC (unless they didn't submit a Renewal application by the expiry date or they were found guilty of serious operational safety breaches), it just would not include the 737-8MAX on it, and would continue as it was when they bought it from Desert.

If they are not successful in "upgrading" their AOC to include the 737-8MAX it would then come down to whether they want to operate smaller aircraft under the current AOC, or simply let it lapse when it comes to renewing their Part 119 AOC, which should be within the next couple of years as they are renewed every 5 years.
