my next flight is with malaysian airlines and my itinerary shows a 20 hr and 5 min flight from Kualu Lumper to Los angeles .

begs the question how far can a commercial flight go before refuelling.;)

your mate relaxing round the pool in the west
murray :)

If you are on MH94, you will find you are stopping in Taipei on the way.

no its on the way back from lax sorry mate its mh 95 so what happens then we stop 2 hrs from kl for fuel that will be great 18 hours and a stop.....ouch

Muzza, MH95 does stop in TPE.

The longest commercial flight is the SIN-EWR which is around 18.5 hours on an A345. IIRC it is 100 J Class config.

You have a roughly a 14 hour flight to TPE, and hour stop in TPE and a 5 hour flight to KUL.

yes you would want to hope they filled the tank with gas . thats a lot of fuel 18 hours wow i have gone 17 tokyo-lax. must sleep flights

p.s do you know where i go tochnage my avatar?:?:

Not quite 20 hours but LAX-TPE is still going to feel like an extremely long flight at 14:45 hours. There would have to be exceptional circumstances for me to be in the air for that long....

Even though it's not in the same class, LAX-SYD can be very long with strong headwinds. Not sure how long it can get but it's scheduled at 14:55 - I know they allow extra time for the winds but it would be interesting to see how long that could take.

According to Wikipedia (Non-stop flight - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia), a KUL-LAX flight isn't even in the top 30 longest flights in the world. Apparently it stops somewhere.
Great list... And I thought MEL-LAX was one of the longest..
at nearly 19 hours that EWR-SIN is ~4 hours longer... killer

I like this:
though both Airbus and Boeing have hinted at interest in developing variants to their long-haul airliners to make a London-Sydney nonstop flight economically feasible, for which purpose the Airbus consortium will offer the special Airbus A350-900R XWB variant to British Airways.

umm.. err...no thanks, I like the 2hr break to stretch the legs!

Interesting that Airbus have an option available for the A330 that will give it ETOPS of greater than 180. I think I saw the figure 240 mentioned.
