Kingfisher stares at operational shutdown: CAPA

The beleaguered Kingfisher Airlines may be staring at an operational shutdown within the next 30-60 days if it is unable to infuse $600 million immediately, Centre for Asia Pacific Aviation (CAPA), an aviation industry consultant said.

And this is the airline which OneWorld thought was ready to take up as an alliance partner? Surely anybody watching from the sidelines got more than a whiff how of dodgy this mob was and how unstable things were, oneworld must have been super-desperate to contemplate Kingfisher!

My favourite photo of Kingfisher's boss, yes he looks so respectable and business-savvy doesn't he?

Mmm, yes, I always though so. But there must be more to getting nominated to join an alliance than someone at OW waking up one morning with a good idea ... surely?

I had thought that Kingfisher was either directly or indirectly funded or backed (in some way) by the Indian Government ... perhaps that lent an air of financial stability??? I really don't know.

* made a very similiar move with Air India. It would have already been consigned to history if it was not government owned.3 years ago it had debt of $US10 billion and an operating loss of $5 billion. The last 2 years have seen it turn around with operating losses of only $1 billion.Amazingly * are talking to AI again but probably because AI have told the Indian government not to allow Jet to join * until AI has joined.

yes a real honest to goodness boy next door type.

the problem of risk assessment is rife in every industry and not just the usual whipping boys of banking and finance.

Those girls are not wearing any safety gear.

I understand AI will be making direct flights to melbourne on their new 787 birds.

There must be enough price differential to chose them over SIA via sinkers.

ABT rang a story on their ugly interiors on the 787.

What made them look dodgy :?:

Have you ever seen Sir Richard wearing a Tie???? :)
I'm fairly sure he would have worn one when he rocked up to Buck house to have his knighthood bestowed upon him by Prince Charles under order from Her Majesty.

I think I've seen him before ....

looks like the Indian version of Richard Branson...

That's what he fancies himself as.

If Boeing doesn't sell them to someone who's capable of acting reasonably first.

There's something about wearing sunglasses indoors that just isnt right....

Looks like a interesting character.

Why would you wear Sunglasses inside.

All the Indian airlines were running at losses with average loads and low fare competition.
Was just a question of who cracked first - with the backing of a beer mogul rather than the govt I suspect many thought Kingfisher was a safer bet
