A few days ago I went to book 2 seperate SQ J flights to Asia on the SQ website and decided to log onto my KF account only to discover that it has been closed by KF due to inactivity.

Admittedly, the account was mostly used to transfer Velocity points for SQ redemptions but these flights were going to SQ. Obviously I was pretty annoyed at the closure so I decided to book via a OTA which was ~ $300/ticket cheaper and SQ can now pay Alaska to credit my points to their program.

Has anyone else had an account closed?

I had an account that closed due to inactivity and created a new KF account. Used it the other day, transferrring points from VA to KF and redeemed.

cheers,

The result of KF closing my account was I looked at other options for both the points and the ticket purchase. I was going to fly SQ regardless because they had a great deal on J flights to Asia. Closing the account did not save them 1 cent because all communication with them is electronic. In fact it has cost them.

Most of my flying these days is with Oneworld airlines and my Velocity balance is a lousy 40K which won't get me far with SQ

AS also close accounts for inactivity too just FYI. I had mine closed not that long ago by AS for similar inactivity.

Yeah, that happened to me years ago. I just created a new one, updated the link in my Velocity account, and went on my merry way.
