Fashions change. My late Great Aunty Gladys (born in about 1900) would never have been seen outside without wearing a hat, coat and gloves.

A surgeon acquaintance does regular SYD-regional australia more than twice a week wearing "hospital scrubs".
Now these are personalised scrubs that he owns....

Platinum 1 by the way.....
Dom J Lounge access - no issue apparently though he mostly does not have time to lounge around and waste time. Its usually Uber straight to the Dash8

It pretty much always was. Covid just magnified it.

I don’t have a problem with it at all.
If I did I’d have to ban myself from all of those venues.
It’s pretty comfortable to travel in as well.

yes we do it for the perceived value (unrealised worth) for the lounge and extra baggage but who carries around that much luggage and how much do you think the food items are actually worth? and the obvious intangibles such as priority boarding and priority checkin which is hard to measure the value but something that can do without since I always board last (beats boarding first and more fun)

Back in the good old days I was justifying if it was worth an extra $100 to spend to achieve silver status for an Asian airline (silver means nada but can get lounge access at the home base and extra luggage allowance). Only took said airline one time after achieving silver during the two year validity period (on the return leg of the trip) but it paid off as I was unexpectedly upgraded to business on a transcontinental Asia->N America flight because the flight was overbooked and the ground crew even acknowledged that there are benefits as a silver after he issued me the ticket (made me think that silver was actually worth something lol). Plus I get the shiny silver card🤑🤑

Also (extreme example take it as you will) one could have probably invented game theory or cured cancer if had an extra weekend instead of flying around aimlessly for status points. then you don't need to fly platinum anymore you fly in your private jet fully paid by the company:cool::cool:

Some of my activewear is indistinguishable from mainstream fashion (and more expensive). Not talking about a bra and shirts here

I get it
I just don’t get wearing scrubs as a deliberate fashion choice —as opposed to functional professional wear in theatre or wearing in the rooms whilst consulting with patients.
To each their own😂

Bit like a judge in wig and monogrammed robes lounging in F …

Like the Dr in emergency I attended on a Sunday because my left arm was like a Michelin man arm. Wearing his St Vincents scrubs in Manly emergency must have made him feel superior when telling me I had an infected arm. I disagreed and requested an ultrasound. He refused so I left knowing I had an appointment at The San the following Tuesday. At the San I was sent straight for a CT which couldn't be done due to swelling. An ultrasound indicated a 30cm blood clot. Upshot is I make judgements about medicos who walk around in scrubs as a fashion statement. Grubby scrubs in a public place, are you kidding me.

The Dr you saw was likely one of the bunch of ED Drs working casually as VMOs in various Sydney hospitals to make a living.
Not uncommon at all to see scrubs from one ED worn in an entirely different hospital. Nothing to do with superiority.

And Greys Anatomy scrubs (made by Barco USA) will be worn by many healthcare professionals(and not because they dream of being movie stars). Its a well known long established US brand for scrubs/etc

When the TV series was made they wanted the real deal not costumes so they got Barco to make them.
They continue to be made as Barco Greys Anatomy
My family who work in healthcare love them

Sounds like you're projecting. Imagine buying a completely new set of scrubs so you could take a locum shift in a different hospital.

Well my then 18yo daughter diagnosed the condition before we left for the hospital. Wearing scrubs for no apparent reason.
Clot lodged in the brachial and axillary veins so outcome could have been very different to what it was. Thank you for wishes @Princess Fiona, it was 8 yrs ago and resolved with drugs over 7 months.
