Especially given the no thongs in lounge rule is not enforced in international lounges. I'm just waiting for the day Borat enters the QF Flounge in a thong and says, "Very nice!".

The rule is now "No Rubber Thongs" so if you have fancy thongs made of leather / reef style you're good to go.

I have tested this a few times. Ironically the only place I've been pulled up was OOL, which isn't supposed to have a dress code at all.

They did replace the Red Rooster with a Banh Mi place I saw .. 🤣

But yeah OOL specifically never had the stupid dress code. Prob die to being considered mostly leisure (in comparision to BNE at least) How odd to be pulled up there.

Worst thing to say to a Canadian is praise for the current Prime Minister, <redacted> and nothing like his father (Pierre Elliot Trudeau who did more for Canada in one year, 1982, than most PMs did in a whole career).

And yet, I've got a Canadian passport and lived in Canada for the better part of 30 of the past 36 years. This stereotype that Canadians are quiet and always polite is inaccurate. We can be assertive when necessary, such as when lounge agents in the Flounge don't properly allocate showers in the lounge.

You mean after YOU ignored advice given prior to your visit to sort out shower first and chose to priortise eating? Yeah.. that's all their fault. Wow.

However this does bring us, strangely enough, back on topic...

The stereotype is quiet and very polite. That is at least what my partner and others have told me.

To your point, I would encourage you to spend some time travelling in the United States. You will see meltdowns there that make any "stunt" I pull off seem like a walk in the park. Specifically I have seen grown men pounding the desk at gates, I have seen someone on a power trip at the AA customer service centre demand the names of the employees and station managers saying how he'll write a report to the CEO and they'll all be fired. On one of my flights I actually saw someone argue with TSA who refused to the passenger go through with a gun. Really?!

It is what it is. At the end of the day, I went to the business lounge and managed to find an empty shower. Yes I was in a hurry and rushed through some of the niceties getting there. And yes it was my fault for not prioritizing the shower. I should have done that first in hindsight, or signed up for a slot as others mentioned. I did not realize this would be much of a big deal to be honest. Then again, the LAX Flounge is quite a bit different than those in MEL and SYD. In my defence, at least I wasn't on a power trip or something!
