Last Tuesday I returned from a month in Europe, plus a few days in Thailand. Here's a few rambling airline thoughts, if anyone is interested.

QF: We flew QF all the way (QF1/2). The service was pretty good. In fact, I can't complain as the fare was cheap; the connections were perfect.
We flew from BKK (Monday 26/3) on the inaugural QF24. It was a quick flight to Sydney. The breakfast was so small it was almost invisible. I thought QP in BKK was fine as it wasn't too crowded.

QF first class lounge SYD: I was given two guest passes for the First lounge in Sydney. I am thankful that the nice lady on the desk allowed me to accompany my wife and daughter into the lounge. Having said that, I ordered a meal. Half of it came, the other half was forgotten. It was pretty greasy too, so I can't say I am impressed, but seeing it was free, I can't complain either.

BA: BA was a real disappointment. Their planes are old and the service almost non existent. Supposedly a full service airline, there was a biscuit for dinner. Cabin service on Easyjet and Aer Lingus was far better, as were their aircraft. The only thing with BA was that we got a full 23kg luggage allowance, whereas the el cheapo carriers only give you 20kg, which has to be paid for.

EASYJET/AER LINGUS: The service is fine, but the aircraft seat pitch is miniscule. I am only 5'10", but I could only just fit in the seat. Pity anyone taller than 6' trying to use these airlines. It must be torture.

QP: Heathrow terminal 5 BA club was fine, except that British cuisine isn't my cup-of-tea. ("British cuisine" is the ultimate oxymoron! Thankfully London is chock full of an immense array of cultures with their attendant food!)

SUVARNABHUMI airport: After all the negative press over recent days, I can only report that the immigration procedures were brilliant. I think this may be a world record, but we went from leaving the Sofitel Silom (via taxi), through check in, immigration, security and out the other side, in 1 hour and 5 minutes. No complaints at that.
