That sounds good, wanted to visit PER but not had the cash that QF wants. If some good routes started for some good prices, I’d be very tempted. Though it’s $199 PER to SYD and MEL currently, so it still might not be what I’m looking for.

Pardon my ignorance, but when does PER-BNE and PER-OOL start on JQ?

It may be late but I can't seem to find that info anywhere.
It is probably right in front of me:oops:

I don’t think the routes have been launched yet. I assumed the sale would start tomorrow with an announcement, but the page could have been accidentally added at any point…

The sale is on… but at least for me, their booking engine wont allow me to select Brisbane, and then Perth. So I can’t even check dates… really useful!

I can from the sale page, late night/red eye combo.

Would their A320's have the range for a BNE-PER flight?

Factors that would affect JQ's ability to uplift 177 pax include how much freight etc they were carrying, total weight of bags/freight plus if strong headwinds they will need to carry extra fuel.

If the above isn't enough, if bad weather and/or fog is forecast for PER in addition to your extra fuel for your alternate (wherever that is) you may need an hours holding fuel also.

DRW/SIN is a shorter flight than BNE/PER & in the past it was not uncommon for JQ to leave heaps of bags behind because the A320 couldn't uplift the total payload.

There were plenty of occasions too particularly in the wet season on DRW/MEL & DRW/SYD flights where JQ would cap the flight at say 156 pax when flight may have 177 booked. Only problem was JQ Ops would ring check about one hour prior to flight departing & tell them which was a great receipe for ground rage. Pretty sad when AFP have to be called to supervise checkin.

I'm sure you can imagine the scenario when they've got a big queue of pax in front if them who have been queueing for over an hour only to be told 20 people won't be travelling. Of course there will always be someone who is in the last 20 pax to check in that is going to a funeral or travelling for compassionate reasons.

IMHO JQ need to have a major rethink with regard to their pax off before freight or bags policy - it's never a good look.

I can see dramas ahead if using A320's BNE/PER - just cut and paste above scenario.

If you ever do this flight use OLCI or risk not going!

Would it be inappropriate to ask when (and where) the 2011 FT Annual General meeting is going to be held?

I seem to recall needing a BNE-PER flight (or reverse) in the past.

Wandering aimlessly...

Not sure that organisation of the festivities has kicked off yet. Perhaps Lindsay Wilson can inform us of when it will be?
