Hi Guys

Does anyone know of a workaround to this issue.

Whenever booking an A330 JQ domestic tag flight that connects to an international flight, when selecting "business class" it always shows the domestic connection in Y even though it has a J cabin.

I would normally NEVER fly JQ but to DPS there aren't many options.

I'm looking at a flight MEL - SYD - DPS on JQ36 then JQ37 and neither the online booking or the call centre can have me seated in business class for the domestic leg.

NB - I did a search and found a 2011 thread, I'm after any known solution.

thanks
m

Is this for award availability?

I was trying to do a multi sector award on the QF website but it seems that it's a software programming thing than JQi flights domestically never show Star Class availability - it will always just have N/A in the business column meaning not applicable rather than not available.

When I rang JQ to ask how full the "J" cabin was they said that there were no seats sold the whole cabin was empty so obviously availability wasn't the issue.

Not sure why it wouldn't show if you are trying to book a commercial fare though. I know there are two types of fare buckets for Star Class to differentiate seats booked with the Business Max option ie the ability to earn QF ff points & SC. It was something like J & JF class.

If you just do a single sector availability MEL/SYD for JQ36 does it show J availability? I'm sure AFFers doing Flounge runs have booked J on this flight before. It may only be an issue on the MEL/DPS availability when it shows connecting flights. To pay a through fare MEL/xSYD/DPS flights would have to be booked at the same time on the same pnr to avoid being charged a sector fare MEL/SYD.

Maybe one option would be to post the question on the JQ Facebook page.

Sometimes JQi simply don't sell *Class/Business on Domestic segments, keeping the cabin empty.

Thanks for the replies.

Yes, it's a paid booking. And when selecting just MEL - SYD it's bookable as Business Class. Just not included in the connection.

Will stick to Virgin, finally I can let go of the F lounge - it has forced me to fly JQ twice!
