Beware...
Just found out the hard way about Deathstar's 30 min check-in cut off. From their website...
"Passengers who arrive after check-in has closed will not be able to board the flight and will lose their seat – no refund or free transfer is available and you will be required to book and pay for a new ticket if you wish to travel."
Booked on QFF website on points and cannot remember any mention of this anywhere.
I'm currently sitting in the OOL QP (making them pay in bourbon) waiting for a flight to SYD to go the the State of Origin decider!
Arrived at desk at 2.50pm for a 3.15pm flight and was told the flight had closed. I was told to check with Virgin to see if they had one departing soon.
I was all geed up for a big night and this was not the way I planned it to start it! (By the time you read this, the result would have been decided and I'll be either happy but pi**ed off... or just pi**ed off!)
The check in girl was reasonably helpful, I asked if this happened a lot, she said "every flight" and gave me an address to post a letter to to complain. (Obviously check-in staff are none too happy about the set-up either). She mentioned that the flights close earlier than QF because they need 30 mins to prepare all the legal paperwork for the passengers boarding the plane to hand to the pilot??! (anyone know about this one?).
Anyway she got me on the 5.05pm out of OOL and I should make the game just in time. I am only flying this god awful airline because the only way I could get to Sydney this afternoon was a QFF redeption ticket with Jetstar!!? Doesn't make sense does it? QF flights were all full, however heaps of freebies on Jetstar!
I know one thing is for sure... this boarding arrangement OR Jetstar won't last long.
