Had a bizarre experience with the Jetstar website recently - would love to hear if anyone else has experienced something similar. Here's my story

Had booked a flight some time back, logged into my booking recently to assign seats and assigned 6 seats at the front of the plane, each costing $12.

The Seat Allocation webpage displays "Amount Owing = $72", all OK so far.

I go to the Payment webpage and in a table at the top of the page I see "Balance Due = $72", OK, but in another table lower down on the page, I see "Amount Due Now=$156". Now just where did that additional $84 come from??

It gets even more bizarre - when I select VISA from the Card Type box, the screen refreshes and I now see "Amount Due Now=$240". It added another $84.

But what was concerning was that the Payment webpage had no SSL security, that is, there was no padlock icon in the bottom right hand corner of the web browser and the URL was plain old http instead of https. So the payment page was not encrypting payment info such as your credit card details.

I decided not to proceed as the amount due was so obviously wrong and I won't commit to any payment type information over the internet without encrypted SSL security.

Called Jetstar, waited 50 minutes before my call was answered, got some lame excuse that they we're experiencing problems with website payments, the operator wasn't really interested in the security issue. I wonder how many people actually entered their Credit Card details on this unsecure page and possibly didn't see the calculation error?

NOT IMPRESSED :(

Dont worry the new Jetstar CEO used to look after Qantas IT, all is fine and will be fixed once they apply the patch.

Hang on, I just said Qantas IT, I take it all back, please come back in 10 years when we will have the functionality other airlines offer today!
