I accepted and paid my $250 upgrade SYD - HNL. I chose a centre aisle seat and the two next to me were taken pretty quickly too, it looked to be all sold.

Now, checking again, and it says I can't choose the seat and I do not have anything assigned but that I'll get it at the airport. - I def do not want a centre seat. What do you think may be happening re the seating?

Flight is probably chockers so they've frozen seat section.

9/10 times you'll keep your chosen seat.

Yes, it looked that chockers, all the J sates now sold I should think. I phoned them and they con firmed my seat choice.

The upgrade email confirmation for SYD-HNL said that I had 40kgs going both in and out which I was pleased about as I had only originally bought 15kgs to do a small spot of shopping. I don't need 40kg, but a bit more than 15kg gives a bit of relaxed flexibility.

When I phoned re the seat, I was looking at the booking on line which said 40kg out and 15kgs back. I questioned that discrepancy between my online bkg and the email, they said 'no' only 15 kg back.

After some friendly discussion he suggested if I wasn't happy, that I write a letter, I answered that it wasn't going to happen and could I please speak to a supervisor. An hour or so later on the phone whilst she checked my email stating 40kg plus 40kg, I said that I was happy to compromise if they gave me 25kg coming back. And we agreed that, so it was an hour well spent.

Now, looking at my online bkg which they told me carries more weight that my email confirmations, I see it says 15kg going out and 25 coming back! Geez. Hopefully I don't need to phone them yet again.:-|

If JQ want to discuss and argue your luggage allowance for 1-2 hours on the phone and then again at the airport when they attempt to deny your luggage allowance, then they have effectively spent about $20-$60 arguing with their customer over a fee that would normally be in the region of $40 to $60??

Once you get back let us know how things went.

Yes quite so, however I do hope to have this sorted before I depart. She was mutli tasking a lot of that time whilst I was on hold. She wanted to call me back, but I said I was happy to wait - I was not going to let her go.

UPDATE: just rec'd the confirmation email that was to show 40kg and 25 kg, but it still says 40 and 40 kg. Meanwhile, the online bkg stills says 15kg and 23kg. I didn't know JQ was such a joke.

What do you really expect from a Low Cost Airline!

They have upgraded you at a cost of $250 to their "business class" which shows the value they place on it.

They have likely now oversold the business cabin as well, so my advice is get to the airport early and then board earlier than normal.

I won't be heading to HNL until QF places A330's on the route and then will take my chances with either SkyBed1 or the new A330 seating in J.

I refuse to give JQ any cash and the J product on HA is pretty poor from all reports and the price they charge!

Just back from being on the very LCC Jet* SYD-HNL. To recap, I bought the upgrade offered on the SYD-HNL sector a few days before dep.

There was a contention on luggage allowance on the return Y sector as there was no consistency shown between the online bkg (15kg as originally purchased), the many confirmation emails showing 40kg inj both directions, and the conversation I had w' the agent manager to clarify which the hell it was to be. The agent and I agreed to compromise on 25kg which I was happy w', even though the other 2 weights continued to be shown right till onlinechk in. I had taken screen shots of the 40kg emails in case I turned up w' over 15kgs. It came down to the ONCI where it made it quite plain I had 25kgs , phew and just to nominate the number of bags.

What a lot of time and energy wasting all round Jet*.

PS, flt chockers in both classes both ways. My seat choices were honoured.

Another win for the screen shots and doing your homework, glad to hear you got what you agreed to, even if you did have to fight for it! :)

I would have thought the confirmation email would be the authority on this and what you and everyone else should be able to rely upon.

An online entry can be changed by the airline unilaterally without even you knowing.

Yes, I guess you'd think so. But, IF I had expected to utilise 40 kgs luggage, I would not as it turned out been able to use the ONCI and may have lost my seat allocation and could look forward to arguing w' a HNL check in AFTER buying 40kgs worth of stuff was not something I wanted. And, yes JQ does change on line anything without you knowing, even putting you on a flt the next day without even sending an email to say so becuse the MEL-SYD flight of which there are many, happens to have been cancelled. The moral is beware, be alert, and maintain a certain alarmist outlook when bkg JQ.

My son got an email offer to upgrade Cairns to Tokyo return for $199 each way. We are doing Gold Coast Tokyo in November on the 787. Has anyone received an Email upgrade offer on the 787 and if so what would be the expected cost. Thanks.

The J cabin on the 787 is much smaller so you will mostly likely have less chance of an upgrade.
