Hello all,

I am thinking of booking a flight from SYD - CNS - KIX and keen to get some understanding of the following:

1. How many status credits do I get for this trip? Would that be 15 status for SYD - CNS and 40 status for CNS - KIX based on Economy rates?
2. Will I have to collect and recheck-in my luggage at CNS?
3. Can I use complimentary Qantas lounge passes at CNS?
4. Lastly, for my future reference, what status credit rates do Jetstar Business Max and Starter Flex (Plus) earn at? Is Business Max at Discount Business and Starter Starter Flex (Plus) at Economy?

Thank you very much for your time and knowledge

Yes.

2. Will I have to collect and recheck-in my luggage at CNS?
Yes, also note that the international check in at Cairns only opens 3hrs prior to the CNS-KIX flight so if you have a longer layover then you'll need to wait around before you can check in again. There are also lots of people transferring from other Australian cities to Japan so the queues at the 3hr mark can be long.

3. Can I use complimentary Qantas lounge passes at CNS?
Yes but the lounge is only in the domestic terminal, you'll need to check in for the Jetstar flight first before walking back to the domestic terminal and clearing domestic security then making sure you leave plenty of time to walk back to international departures, clearing international security and passport control before boarding.

Forget about the lounge. Unless you are staying the night in Cairns you are going to be on the 6am flight out of Sydney. You will collect your bags in Cairns, walk it to the international terminal where there will be a long and slow moving queue for check in. When you are done you will not have enough time to walk back to the domestic terminal for lounge time which is a shame as the international terminal is barren.

Correct

2. Will I have to collect and recheck-in my luggage at CNS?
Yes and CNS terminals are separate.

3. Can I use complimentary Qantas lounge passes at CNS?
Yes*. There's nothing at Int'l so basically useless.

4. Lastly, for my future reference, what status credit rates do Jetstar Business Max and Starter Flex (Plus) earn at? Is Business Max at Discount Business and Starter Starter Flex (Plus) at Economy?
Business Max earns at QF Business (in this case for CNS > KIX 130 SC). All JQ economy packs that earn SC now only earn Standard QF economy. We used to be able to earn at Flex Economy but that has been enhanced recently and is no longer possible.

Finally personally unless you really like CNS or want the SC/Points, I'd consider SYD <> KIX direct on JQ instead. It's not the greatest transit experience. There are definitely some airports I don't mind hanging out at but CNS is not one of them unless I'm forced to.

Thanks all! I decided to go direct SYD - KIX, to save myself the transit (and cost).
