Nice TR. I think we need to start a thread for the mascots of AFF. How would grumpycat feel about the spotlight? :D

He might even not be grumpy for a day.

He was happy yesterday. Not that you would know it.

The Club rooms. We didnt receive an upgrade to a duplex which is on two levels (my bad) but the room is still good.

Lordy I had to be careful with the mirror! A basin separate to the bathroom which is extremely handy.

Last night we had club drinks by the sunset bar.

ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1474846439.931376.jpg

A slight issue with ordering saw me with a second order of sparkling water. I politely said sparkling wine so he returned with still wine instead. Oh well, a drink is a drink and let it go. Within a couple of minutes another waiter returned with a glass of sparkling wine. I have no idea what happened.

The beach bbq's were in full flight with lots of smoke.

A view back to the restaurant where we would be eating. It was Italian. We ordered risotto (my fav) and ravioli. Dishes were nice not memorable.

Lots of fireworks happening as we ate plus a whole series of moon lanterns in flight.

This isnt a great photo but wanted to show it as an example of how Bali does things. We look towards the airport and through the night you can see lots of lasers pointed towards the airport. Then the moon lanterns.

The light on the far left is a plane just landed. The dots in the sky are moon lanterns over the airport. Fireworks to the right. Its Bali

Hot hot hot today.
The gardens here are stunning. So much so this guy is getting a cutting of the Frangipani to take home. Clearly not an Aussie or New Zealander!

Some of the gardens where the plants we have in Australia grow to extra large size here.

Thanks P for the photos really enjoying them, haven't been back to Bali for many years except a day trip last year in my QV cruise, and have to say that I did fall in love with Bali all over again after that day trip, so loving your photos, I really must try and get there again, but am addicted to cruising so that is where I spend what little leave I have....

Well, at Christmas time we are on Diamond Princess that calls in on Bali and Lombok! ;). Plus Malaysia and Thailand from Singapore.

Cruising sure gets into the blood.

I plan on going into Seminyak tomorrow. After the US debates. Then teppanyaki for dinner.

And like that an afternoon storm blows in

But just half an hour earlier it was hot and sunny.

We were going to do the beach BBQ tonight but with high tide and rain, it's a wipe out.

During the day the bbq's aren't fired up too much but do serve meals.

Cafe Menega has been our pick for years but was the one targetted during the terrorist attack. A backpack was just thrown into the seating while people were eating. Unimaginable.

This resort is right at the end of the bay and has the longest, narrowest pool. Seems to be occupied mainly by well heeled sweet young things.

For those who have been to Bali, this is a familiar sight - but they usually give you warning!

But there are no mossies here.

The next time I say to MrP I am heading into Seminyak shopping area I have asked him to remind me. DONT GO. MrP of course stayed at the resort.

Took an expensive ($10 :D) taxi to the heart of boganland. It hasn't changed. As soon as I hit the pavement I asked what was I thinking.

Anyways. I purchased an ubud silver bracelet which is nice for son's partner whose birthday is the week we get back and a shopping bag charm. Cost $25 and it is real silver so it is nice and wont go black. I also purchased some real sudafed that MrP requires due to chronic sinus issues and the need to fly. He is happy with that.

Tonight we are having a teppanyaki 'performance'. We have been to one before and they are a lot of fun with wonderful food.

And last night in a fugue of alcohol we decided another change to our July plans. A Baltic cruise! We met a couple of guys from Canada on one of our Med cruises and we had a blast. We are still in touch 3 years later. They mentioned they were going on this cruise a few days ago and would toast a drink to us at our fav martini bar but we thought we would surprise them and be there. We always got great service from the crew whenever we were with them. :)

So now its off to Stockholm next year

Bracelet update. Way too large and falls off my wrist. And the charm I bought at the same time does not fit over the hinge. Bali rip off strikes again.

You are incorrigible Pushka!

Ah. But resistant when it comes to QM2. But, ahem, how many different accommodations have we booked and cancelled?

Must be nice to be back in the air heading OS. Looks like a lovely place to ease back into the saddle - enjoy!

It is indeed. I figure Y in Jet* for 6 hours was a good test. I am a bit on the lookout though.

So currently have Singapore at Christmas (on double status credits in J so back to SG for me), then in April up to Singapore with love_the_life and 3 nights there then a 10 day cruise on the QM2 then 3 days in Dubai, and just booked the flight up to Stockholm on points in J. Then Japan in 2018.

Hells bells, I am starting to sound like you amaroo!
