Jetstar to ask passengers to check in themselves and luggage

I believe AirNZ does this currently for domestic flights (ex AKL), and some other Star Alliance members are either planning or currently doing this as well.

Anyone know of other airlines?

It's the way of the future unfortunately...

I would not concern myself too much about this. All it means is that PAX using this facility get to attach the bag tags themselves.

They still have to take the tagged bags to the counter to drop their bags off.

It's supposed to save JQ staff 15 seconds per PAX.

I already check in myself - the only change only relates to bags - currently I load the bags on to the conveyor myself so now I have to attach a bag tag... not a big deal...

Most people struggle to get a boarding pass printed using the quickcheck machnes and now they need to learn to attach bag tags as well? I can't see this saving any time but rather causing more delays.

I see a lot of lost lugguge in the future because the passenger hasn't attached the tag properly and, combined with the not-so-caring hands of the baggage slingers, it's fallen off.

Or queues forming because people havn't taken off old tags or incorrectly put on theirs, and the staffer has to do some work to make things right.

I think from recollection AA does this at the new terminal at JFK for Y pax. I remember (Sep '08) having to do the check in kiosk the attech the bits to my basg then drag them to kiosk.. or is my memory getting worse? They pretty much just had a dragon standing there making sure they were correct weight..
feel free to correct me if I am wrong
