Hi,

Im flying Jetstar for the first time form MEL-SYD on JQ30 in a couple of weeks, and I would like to know if i can upgrade to StarClass?

Thanks

There are four types of Jetstar domestic flights (as far as I am aware) -
  • JQ domestic (operated by the Australian A320 Jetstar fleet)
  • JQa CNS-DRW (operated by JetstarAsia A320s)
  • Domestic codeshare services (operated by QF, marketed by JQ)
  • JQi domestic legs of international flights (operated by A330s)
In regards to the final flight type (JQi, international flight/domestic segment MEL-SYD) - as it is operated by an A330, Star Class is present, and people sit in there. I am unable to answer if upgrades are available at check-in... However, I would warn that this segment is a “pay on board” snack service for economy passengers. On international flights, when JQi economy passengers get this service, Star Class passengers get a “take your pick” from the snack basket service.

So, if upgrades are available, and the segment is only a “take your pick” from the snack basket service - I personally do not think you would be getting very good value for money! (As for status credits, etc... your call on upgrade value MEL-SYD.)

While this segment may be operated by an A330, I suspect the passengers sitting there would mostly be people on the international segment as well. I don't think you can buy starclass if you are flying purely domestic (which is quite a separate thing to whether you can end up sitting there)

No, I agree, you can't buy a ticket for it… However, I don't know about upgrading.

If JQi has an empty Star Class seat, and someone is prepared to pay a few hundred for it (as an upgrade), I personally don't think whether they are a continuing passenger or just getting off domestically should enter into the equation?!

StarClass is now able to be booked for Domesestic Legs operating from an international terminal

Has anyone been able to obtain a paid ODU for a JQ domestic leg (of international service)?
