My wife and I have taken advantage of Jetstar's specials between Sydney and Honolulu several times in recent years. Sometimes it has been as little as $249 one way. Looks like $409 is about as low as it gets now - maybe $349 on occasions.
We are doing a cruise with Celebrity from HNL to SYD in October 2014. The plan is to buy a cheap one way fare from Sydney to Honolulu, spend a few nights on the Big Island then join the cruise in Honolulu on 5/10/14. So we have been watching for the Jetstar specials that often come out in November.
Looks like like specials are out - the prices are as low as $439 one way until mid-September 2014, but after that they go up to the $600 to $730 range for the latter half of September 2014. I guess this is because NSW school holidays are 20/9 through 6/10/2014. The day we want to fly out is probably 30/9/14 or 1/10/14. We can get fares with Jetstar for $539 on either of these days. I am guessing that between now and then Jetstar is unlikely to release fares that are significantly cheaper than that, due to there being school holidays at this time. Is this right? Are we best to just lock in the $539 fares now, as there is pretty much a fixed departure date due to the cruise?
