Hi
I am on JQ916 today and an a larger unit so I try and purchase a seat at the very back to maybe get an empty seat next to me.

I checked now 8 hours before takeoff and the seats next to me are taken and there are only two seats available with a seat empty next to them.

Would all seats have now been allocated.

I saw a thread mentioning international flights just curious if this is the same for domestic. The international thread says seats are allocated 48 hours before.

I usually ask at the airport but the last few flights the comment had been basically you have a seat, don't complain.

It is more for the comfort of the person next to me though.

Anyway basically would all seats have now been allocated, apart from operational reasons of course. TIA

My experience flying JetStar domestically is that for those on fares without seat allocation (I.e. base starter fare) seats are assigned based on when you checkin with JetStar and generally the later you check in the better. This is because JetStar will allocate the coughty middle seats first to those checking in so they can keep those premium seats available for sale during check in. However at some point they will run out of the shifty seats and must allocate you a good one.
