Jetstar paid upgrades at the airport

Log into your booking on jet stars website. Your upgrade opportunity will be there if it's offered.

Thanks. I've never seen it so I guess I've never been offered an upgrade. :(

After flying BNE ---> DPS on Jan 19 with 12 pax on 4 separate bookings, I can confirm that none received an upgrade email.

I can also confirm that on check in Jetstar advised that paid upgrades are no longer available at the airport effective November.

The lovely girl informed us that it had to be cancelled due to "catering issues." Business class had 8 empty seats on that flight.

The flight home on Jan 29 was a similar story with paid upgrades unable to be processed at the airport and a raft of empty seats.

It is baffling to learn that revenue goes begging and JQ don't care? Surely pax would be happy with a cater free upgrade?

I certainly would be!

A great point. A lot of people would gladly pay extra for the space and not worry about the food

I'd say that there's a difference between an airport paid upgrade and an emailed one 2 weeks before. you normally only have 3 days to confirm the upgrade.

When was that? August last year? Perhaps the JQ policy has changed in the past 6 months?

No Austman, my most recent one was December and Cool Cat Phil got one yesterday.

Good to know. I've flown in Jan 2015 and nothing. And flights coming up and nothing. In fact for me, never anything.

Just reporting back that the same upgrade offer for the Business Class upgrade was received from JQ as To what I previously stipulated on my outward bound flight is the same for my return flight on JQ24 NRT > MEL on the 9th of March.

A few observations :

- I checked online & noticed the upgrade option was actually available once signed onto the JQ website to check my booking before the actual email offer arrived.

- The upgrade offer was since sold out within 24 hours of receiving the email offer, as at least 7 vacate Business Class Seats were available originally, the flight is now showing sold out in the business cabin.

- with all JQi routes moving across to the 787 Dreamliner before the year's end ( with only 21 J seats as opposed to 38+ J seats in the A330 configuration) I wonder if the opportunity to upgrade will continue?

I just flew JQ from MEL to NRT. Booked in Y with an infant and we were offered the $199 upgrade to J for the return flight.

We were hesitant to take on the offer but so glad we did!! We ended up with 4 J seats between ourselves when we were supposed to have only 2 seats (infant in the bassinet). Given that the infant is turning 2yo next month, the fact that he had his own seat was great.
The crew was really nice and locked the 2 extra seats for us as they were free.

I don't think I have ever been so pleased with JQ services.

In case people are still after JQ upgrade info ....

Not at the airport, but I got the email offer T-14 days to upgrade SYD-DPS. $330 to business max, $230 for business starter (can't remember). I'll need the SC so thought that was reasonable - $2.75/SC, or $3.66/SC including the original $109 fare. I jumped on within 2 minutes of the email, and only 3 seats were available for selection - 2 middles and an aisle. Ick - I like my window.

Now I'm hanging out for the same on the return, because it's the overnight flight and I have to be at a course all day the next day

Great to hear these sort of deals still exist as they provide dirt cheap SC.
With only 21 seats in the J Cabin nowadays, the offer to upgrade won't come up as frequently I suspect.

Still nothing. I'll ask at the airport if there's still availability. Otherwise I bit the bullet and paid $25 for an up front seat, which most people are too cheap to pay for so fingers crossed for a shadow.

No more updates at the airport ...

Looks like the upgrade invitations are alive and well - yesterday my flight was showing 6 seats taken - been that way for the last few months. Exactly two weeks before departure another 6 seats 'sold' on the same day. Seems consistent with the offers going out two weeks prior. (The business class fare is high, so unlikely they were purchased outright.)

To those who got upgrades, was it bang on 14 days? I've got a flight from Cairns to Japan coming up in 14 days and was wondering where I should be looking on the manage booking page (and obviously my email).
