Jetstar GK501: Bomb threat forces flight into emergency landing The Oz online; if paywalled, try this: 12ft – Hop any paywall

A Jetstar Japan flight has made an emergency landing after taking off from Tokyo on Saturday, due to a bomb threat phoned in from Germany.
Flight GK501 from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Fukuoka was diverted to Chubu as a result of the threat received just as the plane took off at 6.20am local time.
Passengers were not told the reason for the diversion until the flight was landing in Chubu and the emergency slides were deployed.

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK said the bomb threat was phoned in from Germany by an English-speaking man who claimed to have hidden 100kg of plastic explosives in the A320’s cargo hold.
It was reported he threatened to detonate the devices if he was not allowed to speak to the “manager” of Jetstar Japan.
Inspections of the cargo hold and cabin found no explosives.
