Jetstar GK501: Bomb threat forces flight into emergency landing The Oz online; if paywalled, try this: 12ft – Hop any paywall

A Jetstar Japan flight has made an emergency landing after taking off from Tokyo on Saturday, due to a bomb threat phoned in from Germany.

Flight GK501 from Tokyo’s Narita Airport to Fukuoka was diverted to Chubu as a result of the threat received just as the plane took off at 6.20am local time.

Passengers were not told the reason for the diversion until the flight was landing in Chubu and the emergency slides were deployed.

Japan’s public broadcaster NHK said the bomb threat was phoned in from Germany by an English-speaking man who claimed to have hidden 100kg of plastic explosives in the A320’s cargo hold.

It was reported he threatened to detonate the devices if he was not allowed to speak to the “manager” of Jetstar Japan.

Inspections of the cargo hold and cabin found no explosives.

The ABC seemed to be laying it on thick about QF’s recent issues referencing this incident. What % of jetstar Japan is owned by Qantas? 50% or less?

I was thinking the same thing - but if Qantas Group choose to allow "JetStar Japan" use the name and livery (presumably JJ pays for it), then Qantas Group wear the consequences, good and bad.
I guess so but I still thought it was a bit needlessly inflammatory (and I am generally pro-ABC), in addition to the fact that a bomb threat isn’t an engineering issue- if the jetstar Japan flight had also had a faulty cargo hold fire indication a shorter bow could perhaps be drawn

Ps it’s 33.3% QF owned
